La Verne PD made the switch over to ICIS it seems. Their conventional channel is now quiet and their encrypted TG has been active all day. While I'm on the subject, I noticed (for the first time) today that Irwindale PD's old dispatch freq [460.2500] was broadcasting an encrypted signal. Also, someone was keying up on Covina PD's old dispatch freq today[154.72500 167.9 PL]. I had a slim glimmer of hope when I heard that, until I realized it was just key ups. :(

Gentlemen, let's remember the original purpose for this thread.

The price of keyloaders and whether encryption will ever be easily defeated are off topic.

Reading ICIS Board Meetings, it says City of Santa Monica submitted letter of intent to join ICIS while Sierra Madre Police have applied to become a subscriber.

Additionally Alhambra, Arcadia and South Bay RCC are interested in ICIS.

On the new Glendale P25 system, they are to transition public works over first, then police. Was supposed to start in July. Has it??

I can understand Sierra madre joing ICIS so they can interop with Pasadena which is the west Allie city. S.Madre is currently VHF, back in the day they shared dispatch with Monrovia. Arcadia is already using verdugo fire dispatch on their tower located top of the city near the water tower, easy x-over....This will also give interop between police and fire. Same goes with sierra madre fire and police. The next city will be Monrovia to show interest. It's very interesting that the small cities have interest. Will officers' let say from Sierra madre be able to affiliate their radio on let's say Beverly Hills to have coverage to pick up a prisoner ? Currently if you left your small rf foot print you would have to use your cell phone to communicate with dispatch.

If they chose to configure and pay the additional per radio fees for roaming then yes. Otherwise the base subscriber fees don't include system roaming.

Understood, so what is the big benefit for a small dept. like Sierra madre to go ICIS ? A VHF repeater can't be that expensive for a small dept.. I see the interop as a benefit when hits the fan, but that expensive for a once in awhile incident.

San Fernando tried ICIS for use just around Men's Central Jail, LA County Hospital, etc so they could stay in touch with dispatch. I havent heard them in a long time - not sure if they still subscribe.

Off the top of my head, Sierra Madre would benefit by being able to communicate directly during any pursuit, mutual aid with helos, K9s, etc.

Does Verdugo still broadcast on their Green VHF frequencies over there?

Pretty interesting how some of the new cities that joined ICIS went fully encrypted and some did not. Also, curious how Auza is fully Encrypted but their detectives stayed digital in the clear. Might be a mistake.

I suspect they are E, but the contributor did not indicate.
Also for reference D is the default setting in the database. Adding the E requires additional steps.
If/when confirmed either way we can update the Db.

Thank you LAflyer for (finally) clearing that up. Might as well set the default to "E".

The trend lately seems to be that any agency added to ICIS will be encrypted.
I still hold just a glimmer of hope that West Covina does not go "E".

Was up in the Valley and gave Glendale P25 a listen.
Only active TG I heard was Glendale Public Works Ch6 - Sanitation.
Db updated.

As others have said hopefully we will see some "D" that get added to ICIS. Do cites like South Pasadena that have talk groups on ICIS use them as the have there own freq that they have had for years?

I have yet to hear So. Pasadena on ICIS. We should move this over to a new thread-it'll keep the mods happy.

Been seeing some hits for TG 2611 Azusa PD Dispatch and TG 2641 Irwindale PD Dispatch on Pasadena site, and many hits for TG 2611 above and TG 2651 La Verne PD Dispatch on Glendora site.
Unfortunately, no sound, and all seem encrypted.
