• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Radio Discovery Tools (RDT) = v2.1.70.0 (Home | IcomRDT)

Some General Notes:
  1. When ordering F7010 or F7020 model portables, you must specific the requested antenna option for the required operating frequency range, no antenna is included by default except for the F7040 700/800 MHz models.
  2. To utilize Radio Discovery Tools (RDT), a properly formatted microSD card is required and the radio must be configured with the appropriate settings through programming.
  3. Trunking enabled radios can be programmed without requiring an ASK in order to make conventional and configuration changes; however, you will not be able to add/modify ANY trunking parameters without an "authorized ASK for the associated trunking system".
  4. The IASKF7S Accessory Advanced System Key (AASK) for trunking operation can be purchased by anyone; however, they are non-provisioned (unprogrammed) and authorized programmers are required to have the ASK programmed and authorized by the trunking system owner/authorized administrators. (Note: this requires the trunking system owner/authorized administrators to have secured the required IASKF7P (SOMK) first, through the approved processes.)
  5. For Phase 2 trunking support, the ISL-P25TR Phase 1 licenses is required.
  6. For Over-the-Air GPS and Android Tactical Awareness Kit (ATAK) support, the ISL-P25DS licenses is required.

Can the general public purchase these from a dealer? Are these capable of non-affiliate trunk scan? Inquiring minds want to know!

They are available through dealers but they will not do “non-affiliated“ operation. An “authorized Advanced System Key” is required for all trunking programming, including the ability to simply view the radios trunking parameters. These radio are capable of RX Only talkgroups, but are still required to affiliate on the system. These are not scanners for the general public, several safe guards have been put into place to prevent that operation in order to protect the trunking systems integrity.
