I've got a 910AH they would have to do something monumental to get me onboard with an expensive upgrade to SDR , and so far this is not it !.

Looks like they just added VHF and UHF to an IC-7300 and took out the HF. I wonder how big a deal that was technically since everything is SDR? Still, If the price is right, it will probably sell like hotcakes.

With Icom's penchant for releasing products early, I doubt we'll see this in the stores until late 2018. The IC-7610 they featured at the Tokyo ham fair in August 2016 still hasn't hit the shelves.

From what I understand, the 1.2 GHz module will be an optional add-in for the IC-9700 just like it was with the IC-9100 and IC-910H. Sadly, this is yet another 1.2 GHz module that is not compatible with earlier 1.2 GHz modules.

There's also been some debate in other circles about the satellite capability of the new radio. You'd like to believe that if this new radio is a replacement for the 9100 and 910H, that it has satellite capability, but it may be in a menu somewhere and not so obvious in a prototype model displayed under glass.
