Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

iCom IC-F5061D Cloning Issues

I'm having issues cloning IC-F5061D transceivers. I bought a USB cable and iCom software to clone about 100 units. I was able to clone the first 40-50 units without any problems. All of a sudden I started getting an error message :

No answer from transceiver
Check the following:
-The COM port settings
-Cloning cable connections
-Transceiver power is ON

I'm baffled. I read on the forum that it might be due to a software version compatibility issue so I went back and tried reading/writing units I've already done, without success. COM port setting is at 1, with 9600/8/N/1/N. Drivers are up to date. Transceiver definetly ON. Can anybody help?

Are you sure that all 100 units have the same radio firmware?

If I recall correctly, I've tried reading radios with super old fw using the latest and greatest programming software at the time and have gotten issues reading them.

If I were you I'd start with flashing the latest fw on all radios (including the dsp fw) and then program them.

Thanks for the reply. No they didn't have the same version of the Firmware. But I eliminated that as an issue because I'm not even able to read the units I've already prog. And I can't update the Firmware either. When I tried that, the unit would reboot and then nothing. Which is actually worse for me, as I suspected that maybe the cable went bad (chinesium). But now I know that's not the case. I can also see in Windows device manager that the comm is established via the cable.

I get that once in a while on a 5061 even with a true Icom cable. Try setting your com port speed to normal instead if high speed. Under com port menu.
