Icom R20 Near E.O.L.?

I've been in and out of this hobby several times over the last three decades and I've always liked Icom gear, the R20 in particular, but I never picked one up due to the expense. On a whim I started looking at them again but am hesitant to purchase a radio that out-of-the-box is already partially deaf. I'm not up on all the digital stuff but I realize it's 'The Now' as well as 'The Future' of the hobby, at least until that time when we're all left in the dark.

So whuddaya' think?... is an R30 likely any time soon?

First, I am NOT an expert on Icom or their plans. Second, I am old and my memory can be faulty. Third, I seem to remember on another forum some discussions about Icom entering the Digital Scanner Only market. The consensus seemed to be no, they would not. Icom's tend to be pricey and complicated (I have three of them) and I can not imagine trying to get a Icom digital scanner to work unless you were on of their engineers! And remember my warnings up front.
