• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a new PMNN4486A being charged in a new NNTN8845A IMPRES 2 charger. When I insert the battery it, the LED goes orange as it has never been conditioned before. Once the the conditioning is finished it'll charge and display red LED. After a few hours when it seems like it is about to start flashing green, it becomes orange again, and it goes in this loop.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Is power lost at all or the contacts are lost between battery and charger?

Is the battery freshly new, or new old stock? Date code of 19xx or newer?

There have been issues reported with IMPRES 2 batteries that have been in storage for a long time without having been initialized or charged prior to being stored. This would primarily affect batteries with date codes of 16xx and 17xx, and perhaps even 18xx at this point.

If I'm looking at the right number, it says 2012. I have attached a photo.

Yup, 12th week of 2020 (the always forward-date the batteries), can't get much fresher than that. It would certainly be under warranty, so I'd try to get a replacement for it.

Do you happen to have a M3.5 APX that shows how many times the battery was charged and the capacity? Or better yet, an IMPRES battery reader?

Why does Motorola forward-date the battery? My APX is M3.5, however, when I go into Battery Info it shows:
Charge --%
Rem. Cap --
Est Chgs --

I don't have an IMPRES battery reader, unfortunately.

I purchased this from a Motorola dealer in the USA (I'm in Australia). Would Motorola Solutions Australia honour the warranty replacement or would it have to be shipped back to the US?

So your warranty date isn't negatively impacted by sitting on a shelf before deployment.
