You do realize that Amazon is increasingly becoming an order processing house for people running on-line businesses out of their garage, don't you? It doesn't take much to buy a crate of cell phone chargers from a Chinese vendor and then sell them one-by-one on Amazon. Yes, Amazon takes the order and handles the money, but the guy in the garage is the one who actually ships the order.

Not necessarily. They can also have Amazon ship if they set up that arrangement. They just supply Amazon with the stock. I know the base charge is 15%. not sure about Amazon fulfillment charge.

More than a few times I've also purchased things from eBay only have have them 'fulfilled' by Amazon. I try to check Amazon for a better price, but many times that doesn't happen.

I'm in the camp that if SM is taking SDS-200 preorders, and the page shows 'in stock', it means the preorder is 'in stock' and they are still accepting them. That may mean they have more units enroute than they have preorders to fill. Now someone show me a non-preorder page that shows them in stock.

Some additional questions (forgive me if they've already addressed, but I've not seen answers to these among the verbiage here):
1) Is there a true discriminator tap available on the SDS series? Is there a tap point identified on the main board like the previous series of Uniden scanners so you can roll your own? Or some other method to get a true IQ tap from the SDR?
2) If so, what software would be recommended for decoding (and source)?
3) Is there adequate memory in the SDS series PROM for additional code to support other CODECs, such as Tetra or MTP1327 down the road?
4) Is there anything that can be stated regarding the "demo" of the spectrum and waterfall displays as a future feature of the SDS series? That would be awesome. Great tease, regardless. If not functional now, how can that display be obtained now on the SDS series on on a connected PC as a) a demo, and b) totally functional?

I know I have tapped my BCT15X and the BCD996P2 and the BCD536HP radios with no issues. I would imagine you can tap the SDS-200 but not sure if any of the beta tester's have opened up the radios. Not sure if these radios are for their keeps or they have to be sent back or bought at a reduced price. I guess in time somebody will open up the radio and take pictures of the motherboard and see where the tap point will be.

There also is a rather basic Uniden Control program RH-200 , works via lan as well as USB.

I am new to scanners as far as buying a radio for monitoring only purposes. I plan to buy a scanner soon to augment my mobile station. My plan is to install it behind the seat of my truck and once setup, to just let it run unattended and full time. I want a "no expense spared" unit that can receive the most protocols available in a scanner. I assume that for mobile use the scanner would have to have GPS in order to be truly hands free in operation while traveling.

Is the new SDS200 the right model for this? any information or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would say the SDS200 fits the bill for what you described, yes.

I would like to know some of the specs of the SDS200

*Complete frequency coverage list
*Complete list of protocols it can demodulate
*Power consumption no audio/with audio
*Minimum/maximum voltage capabilities
*Input impedance (assume 50 ohms)
*PEF (Protocol Expiration Factor)

Yes. I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of specs for the SDS100 -vs- SDS200.

I am curious to see if Uniden has done anything different or extra to tweak it a little more to better handle LSM reception.

Is SDR so no. Not in the traditional sense.

Check the very first post in this thread. The user manual has also been posted.
