Introducing the SDS200

FYI, for those who ordered an SDS200 from Amazon, mine is on the way via UPS Ground from Maryland. Not due to deliver here in Oregon until next Monday. I ordered from Police Scanner Outlet through Amazon on January 27. I see they still have not put their listing for the SDS200 back up on Amazon, so I assume they are sold out for now.

Question for those who possess an SDS200 already:
What is the purpose of the ethernet port?
What are you connecting the radio to via ethernet, and what are you able to accomplish with that connectivity?
Apologies if there has already been a discussion of this topic. If so I have not seen it.

It is a hardwire equivalent of the 536's wifi dongle. Mine is connected to Proscan with it. No need for audio cables or anything else.

Interesting. I thought the 536 WiFi dongle was only for use with the Siren app, which apparently is not currently working with SDS200. I guess I don't see the benefit of using ethernet to control the radio through ProScan, as I'm sure you could just use the supplied programming cable to control the radio. Is that correct? Only difference being you'd have to connect to a computer with the programming cable vs. connecting to your WiFi router with the ethernet cable? Perhaps I'm missing something. How does ethernet take the place of audio cables?

I imagine the same way you stream movies, music, youtube videos, etc. to your computer over ethernet now.

I use proscan primarily to record. I can review what happened while away work ect. If it is connected to your home network via Ethernet you can use any computer. I U.S.A. proscan with my laptop no cables I can control and record from my laptop wirelessly

I did, that's how I know it's still on back order. Especially frustrating since it's a fully paid order not just a "reservation".

You could cancel and get it from somewhere else. Sounds like people are ordering last night and today and seeing it ship out right away, so there is stock out there.

I ordered mine on 1/15 and I've called 3 times 2 times last week and 1 time yesterday. They told me its on back order and I haven't seen nothing on email. So needless to say I'm not pleased about what they are doing this time. I never had any problems before.
