Freescan also doesn't work on the BC125AT and similar "bank" scanners, so even if it WAS still supported (which it certainly is not) the chances of it being updated to support these new scanners would be slim to none.

On the other hand, Uniden provide software to program the BC125AT:

And there is also the very nice Scan125, which is freeware:

Perhaps there will be new versions of either or both that support the new scanners.

Thanks looks good to me

No, not likely, because the difference is the paid upgrade allows for following trunked activity, something Uniden must pay royalties to use. The new scanner (like the Whistler TRX models) does not handle trunking, it will decode a frequency (no royalty required) but not follow the talkgroups as it jumps from frequency to frequency.

|_ What he said. This is not comparable to the paid upgrades. That aside, there is no discount that Uniden is suddenly given for them.

You guys already have the blueprint for the 396, would have it really been that much more to modify it to receive Phase 2/DMR/NXDN?

Which model is currently being produced in a 396 form factor? (as opposed to the currently-produced 325)

I am still confused. It says DMR NXDN digital capable ( with an Asterisk) but i keep seeing that the DMR and NXDN are conventional. What is it and what does the asterisk mean?

Read the third line which is:

* Trunking and APCO P25 not supported

if i had to guess the new scanners will be released at the holiday or Christmas time :D

OK, another tidbit although given the completely destroyed timeline of this series so far (being two years behind due to supply chain delays) I was hesitant to mention ANY release estimates. One of the HQ guys was saying January, and I suggested they try to push that up to early December to gain those Christmas sales. This is subject to fluctuation - meaning it may be sooner or later. So let's say 4-6 months.

The 2000's 246XT/92XLT/95XLT body style was obsolete in 2015 yet was revived in 2015 so why is does that matter?

The 325P2 desperately needing a 3rd battery is the biggest issue with it, according to most of us. It seemed like modding the 396 would have been a grand slam. Just something that's always frustrated me over the years. Seemed like a big missed opportunity, that's all.

I am a huge fan of ProScan, but I'm not sure it's a matter of "doesn't trust Bob". If I am not mistaken, these new scanners will be of the "banks of channels" variety like the BC125AT and BC75XLT, right? ProScan doesn't support those models, but Butel does. I guess if I had been Uniden, I would have reached out to Bob and told him, "Hey we're going to release these new models but our guess is you won't want to support them in ProScan" but I'm not Uniden. :)
While ProScan does not support the 125AT or 75XLT, it does support some of the older banks scanners, such as the 780XLT, BC250D, and the 296D (among others).

Oops. ;) I wouldn't have said it if I didn't know that he hadn't been. Glad he chimed in to correct it. :coffee:

I was told he had been. I believe he was, but not in the way he expected. There was a misunderstanding which has been corrected. It seems Bob does not like to borrow units. Apparently the contact person took that as a turn-down. I'm sure Bob will post if this is not correct.

But the important part is: That misunderstanding has been corrected and I am taking steps to get Bob the information he asked for.

Correct. I was contacted 4 days ago (by one of the beta testers well known here) with an offer to borrow a unit. I didn't realize that it was with your blessing. I was thinking that I should have received an official email from Uniden several months ago (or whenever the beta program started) for an offer to join the beta program which I never got. I understand someone higher up said I declined to join the beta program which is not correct.
No problems. It's all good.
