I just want to suggest that it's encouraging that someone further up the management chain has loosened the restrictions on what you can say. I have to think that your tongue got pretty bloody at times from the effort not to say things that would have got you in trouble.

The more communication that they let you do, the less yapping we'll do. ;)

Always is.

I've asked that some spaces be placed before the asterisk so it's more clear that it's not another bullet point.

I'm more concerned on how tight the batteries fit it my current 125XLT. I bought higher capacity Eneloop Pro batteries to stretch the operating time but they barely fit and are really hard to remove. For that reason I stopped using them.

I hope they fixed this (in my opinion) design error in the BCD160DN.

Personally I find devices with an even number (multiples of 2 or 4) more convenient when you have to buy and carry a spare set. That's because batteries comes in a pack of 4.
I've noticed some batteries fit tighter in some of my radios than others. I always see it as more of a flaw with the batteries than the scanner. If they made the scanner to fit fat batteries then the thinner standard batteries might become dislodged or not connect properly. If I remember right I had no problems with my LADDA 2450 batteries but my EBL 2800mAh batteries were a shoehorn fit.

23 page thread on a non-trunking scanner model, what am I missing here? Not bashing those who want it, just seems like a simple conventional scanner.

Some posts in the thread are similar to yours...somewhat off topic yet adding to the thread nonetheless. It's in the Uniden Tavern, though, meaning more freedom is typically allowed for off topic stuff so that's fine. So, here we are 23 pages in (and more to go) until it's actually released to market.

No trunking doesn't bother me. However, I do wish it included P25. I still monitor LAPD (as it is now) and the local state univiersity PD. There are a few (very few) P25 channels used by the NPS and USFS near me that I occasionally monitor. I'm not on the coast much but, the USCG VHF and UHF P25 channels would be of interest to me. THAT SAID, I'll stick with my 996P2 and 325P2 which are both NXDN and DMR enabled. I still get a lot of use out of my 396XT as well.

Oh well . . . I have a BCD325P2, but it doesn't function well on simulcast, so I won't be buying a BCD260DN after all.

I'm happy I have a couple of SDS100's and a Unication G5.

The only scanners that will work well on simulcast are the SDS100/200. That is not changing with this release.

For those wondering about the price of the BCD260DN, Bearcat Warehouse has posted the BCD260DN on their website with a price of $349.99. It also says "COMING EARLY 2024" and "ON BACKORDER ARRIVING SOON."

For comparison purposes, Bearcat Warehouse's price for the BCD996P2 is currently $379.99. FWIW
YES! I was absolutely correct!!!

I’m guessing it will be somewhere between free and $1,000. We’ll see if I’m right or not. If I’m correct I want credit for it.

So the $30 difference between the 260DN and the 996P2 gets you DMA, P25, and trunking capability with the 996P2...but you would still have to pay for the DMR ($60) and NXDN ($50) upgrades. So if you don't care about DMA, P25, or trunking...then perhaps the 260DN is the better value since it comes with DMR and NXDN capability out of the box. I guess time will tell based on sales if this was a good move to come up with these somewhat niche models. 🤷‍♂️

first of all, I am gonna argue the pre-order or let others know the price, I think its too much, 2ndly as bearcat joe has said no price has been discussed with him, and 3rd even the scanner guys don't know the price, and 4th my biggest argument, the new scanner only has only the 260 there is also a 160 and wait for it, lol the big argument, only bear cat warehouse is posted the new scanner, I can google to see if any other posted the new models with prices, but only bear cat warehouse did, zip scanners and scanner masters has not posted it or a price, I think they're waiting to get the go ahead with the real pricing and go ahead for possibly pre-orders, in the meantime this price was rushed so people can be like wow, no one knows the true price yet.

A few months ago you could get a new 325P2 on Amazon for $325. Typical price being around $350. If that is the price then that's no deal. I wonder if that will be the actual price or it's just a "filler" until they actual start taking orders? Or, retail list price vs what they actually will sell for. I was guessing it would sell for under $300.
