It is whatever you consider the 325P2. I consider them scanners. I suspect most people do.

How many Tone-Out channels will the new new scanners have?

Have a BCD996P2 that's a dedicated Tone-Out scanner but that model only has 10 Tone-Out channels compared the the 436/536/SDS100/200 series that have 33.

Shame the new scanners wont have the multi-color screen feature.
Really like that display option, you need to bring it back (the single multi-color LEDs on the newer models just isn't the same).

Well, if they ever do an upgrade to the SDS series, they really need to consider adding ability to monitor a P25 Phase 2 system, with Phase 2 control channel. Harris already offers this…

for the ham bands where I live it wouldn't work, the ham bands i haven't heard any chatter on it, however, it should have public safety so it might be good for me there :D now it it's just for ham, air, rail, and NASCAR, well no Nascar where i am at, the nearest rail line i think is mount Vernon, so unless the basic antenna will go a good 100 miles I wouldnt hear a choo choo, lol

as for air, well I still can't hear the planes, and I use my database scanners to scan my favs list and with my other scanners i use system search, so far some bands just don't work, must be island life, lol

but my bottom line is I am still interested in this scanner or scanners, I will always find a use for a new one, lol even on this island, lol

I like listening to all, and I consider this a hobby, however, if its got 3 or 4 things the new scanners are set for I might think how is this a hobby scanner unless they lower the price to affordability, most people I recommend who want into the scanner hobby I recommend the uniden 355N the uniden 365Cr then if they love it I recommend a uniden 30C, or uniden 75lt or 125AT now if their digital well I help them by location, it's like telling someone this is a hobby and yet the price is way out of the left field or right field, lol

this hobby at home is great listening to the scanners my away-from-home scanner hobby, the one outside hobby is way more expensive, i fly fish, so fly fishing gear is way too much, however good rods for the hobbies $600 up to $1300 or more, lol unless you get one that works well for you, lol

anyways I could go on and on but I'm semi-happy and excited about the new scanners, however, i am now waiting like many of you with bated breath waiting for the release date and a price for the new scanners, lol

There are a number of single site / single channel DMR setups around me. I recently even have been picking up cheap analog handhelds off ebay and adding discriminator taps because sometimes its just much easier than dealing with the several SDR dongles I have. 99.9999% of the scanning I do is at home with SDR dongles and whatever software I feel like trying out that week. The close call feature is my main interest in handheld scanners.

These new scanner models imho will have a lot of use for some people as a secondary scanner or even main scanner. I hope they add the ability to filter a digital signal by the talkgroup (when I watched the stream I believe they said it would not). I am surprised that they seemingly went with mini-B usb on the radio still for charge and programming. Mini-B in my experience seems way more robust than type-c , but type-c could charge the radio with rechargeable NiMH batts way faster unless they are going out of spec on the mini-b . One day I would like for them to have bluetooth built into at least the handheld models so I do not have to add my own adapter (much more comfortable to walk around with that way / no antenna poking me in the side)

Personally I do not need either of the two models but I like that uniden is still making new models and trying things compared to whistler that is just selling the same old designs. Some people here seem so negative about this radio , you do know you can just not buy it?

I look forward to getting one of these two models in like 7 years off ebay at 50-60% off (you know when scanning is totally dead /s).

Honestly the BCD160DN could be a slight upgrade for me to replace my BC346XT (which I view to be a higher-end version of the 125AT, even though it's an older model). There's very little, if any, analog trunking still in use in my area. There are more and more businesses and industry using DMR simplex and NXDN now, so perhaps the 160DN could be a nice portable conventional scanner. I still have the SDS200 for all my digital trunking needs.

The only feature that I think is missing from the 160/260 is built-in recording, something that I've really appreciated with the high-tier scanners.

If it has a powerful chip in addition with good sensitivity on analog and optimized for fast analog or NX or DMR, I could definitely use this besides my P25 units to free them up for the non-analog stuff.

I have to say that if and when the BCD160DN comes to Sweden, I would buy it. It would be a welcome addition to the scanner collection.
The 125 and the 3600 (436) are among other I have and use but the 160 fills a gap, DMRscanner in a good format.
There are no P25 networks here in Sweden that I know of, DMR is used a lot. Police, fire and ambulances use Tetrapol and that is encrypted but there is so much more to listen to.
Ubbe, do you know of any NXDN user in Sweden?
