The 2000's 246XT/92XLT/95XLT body style was obsolete in 2015 yet was revived in 2015 so why is does that matter?

The 325P2 desperately needing a 3rd battery is the biggest issue with it, according to most of us. It seemed like modding the 396 would have been a grand slam. Just something that's always frustrated me over the years. Seemed like a big missed opportunity, that's all.
I'm more concerned on how tight the batteries fit it my current 125XLT. I bought higher capacity Eneloop Pro batteries to stretch the operating time but they barely fit and are really hard to remove. For that reason I stopped using them.

I hope they fixed this (in my opinion) design error in the BCD160DN.

Personally I find devices with an even number (multiples of 2 or 4) more convenient when you have to buy and carry a spare set. That's because batteries comes in a pack of 4.

In regard to batteries not fitting in the scanner i had a set of four Energizer rechargeables 2350 mah , during charging in a separate charger they would not fit in my 396xt because they swelled somewhat after charging so I don't use them anymore, none of my other rechargeable's do this....

Correct. I was contacted 4 days ago (by one of the beta testers well known here) with an offer to borrow a unit. I didn't realize that it was with your blessing. I was thinking that I should have received an official email from Uniden several months ago (or whenever the beta program started) for an offer to join the beta program which I never got. I understand someone higher up said I declined to join the beta program which is not correct.
No problems. It's all good.

To clarify, it was with my blessing, and I'm sure that loan offer still stands if I can't simply get a unit to you. I am checking on that and the other info you requested is in the process of getting that from the engineers.

As for testing, that was about two years ago. The supply chain issues came about during that testing so the entire project was put on hold until about 2-3 weeks ago when one of the IT guys published the 260 on the Uniden website. Even as recent as a few months ago there was no production or release ETA.

I hope they fixed this (in my opinion) design error in the BCD160DN.

That assumes it's not a battery design error and they are out-of-spec.

As for battery packs with odd cells - buy three packs then you have four sets for a 3-cell unit. But the 160 is a 2-cell unit which is necessitated by the 325 core design.

I see the third line, no asterisk. When there is an asterisk or other mark there usually is something at the bottom of the page associated with said mark, There is nothing.
Odd - the image I have (which is the source for all public images AFAIK) has an asterisk. Granted it is hard to tell in that image, but it is there. It does look like a dot, but it is not.

I understand about the * usually being at the bottom, but I didn't design those sheets or the boxes.

huh, ok. My apologies. I had to zoom in real close to see it was indeed an asterisk and not another bullet point.

Seriously????

"Until now you couldn’t get a simple scanner with NXDN or DMR. The current Uniden scanners that offer these formats have the complicated Dynamic Allocated Channel memory system. This is like banks but on steroids. The main reason for this memory system is to accommodate the many trucking communication systems out there. It isn’t common to see trucking used by the railroads at all. So it isn’t something we need to worry about."

Yeah, not very impressed by an "article" when they can't get basic terminology right. May an A for effort, though...
