Yeah, I heard Lincoln Ida the other day for the first time too.

497022L-I-2Troop 8 "Lincoln Ida 2 - Investigative Duties"

But, coming on duty.

And from our RID listings

497xxx unknown[edit]
  • 497024 key-up on ISP Chicago Priority TG 9051 (T101, 12/7/22)

Does anyone know what the Lincoln Ida units are? I I heard LI-2 going on/off duty on Troop 6 today, and Troop 8 yesterday? RID of 497022

A few days ago, F-101 on T2 came on/off duty as LF-101. I'm thinking ISP is chaging around other call signs as the reconstruction units (K) came on/off duty as F-1xx units saying crash reconstruction duties also.

Correct, it started a few months ago where K-King Units, changed call signs to F-Frank (Forensic) call signs. I've heard LI (Lincoln-Ida) unit check in on a few occasions in the past 6 months. ISP Pilots assigned as Investigators? Here's my current LI (Lincoln-Ida) RID's from my list that I've monitored:

LI-1497021
LI-2497022
LI-3497023
LI-4497024
LI-5497025

With the RIDs being in the 4xxxxx range, it makes it seem like its not a ISP division and another state agency or possibly even federal agency.

I think I resolved the mystery. Copied this from an ISP Directive dated 1-3-23:

"The Division of Criminal Investigation, Air Operations Bureau is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and professional air support to all local, state, and federal agencies and the citizens of the state of Illinois"

We're probably hearing them transition from "L-Lincoln" radio signatures, to "LI-Lincoln-Ida".

Could someone please remind me of the boundary between Troop 15 North and South patrols? Is it 294 at O'Hare?
- Everything south of 294 MM 40 PLUS all of 355, 390 and 88) is on Patrol South
- Everything north of 294 MM 40 PLUS 94 N of Lake-Cook and 90 west of O'hare is on Patrol North

Can I please get a (y) or (n)?

For contributions to the Troop realignment, out in La Salle Co...
- D17A (9019) and D7A (9015) are still being patched on and off out in Ottawa. Not sure why that isn't stable yet.
- Seem to have settled on D7 ISPERN (9053) as expected. Haven't seen the D17 ISPERN TG pop up at all since about 1/7.
- Now for the Car to Car channels- Not used very frequently out here, so will keep an eye on it.
- Same for the respective Detail A/B channels. Seldom used - even the last few air details I picked up nearby, pre-restructure, were on Disp 17B.

Thanks,

K.

Everything I-88 & south is on 15-S, Everything North of I-88 is on 15-N. Not sure on exact mileposts.

Troop 2 still haven't had radio layouts updated yet. Only Troop I've heard get the radio's updated so far is Troop 8. Troop 3 probably has started also but I don't listen to them.

On 294, it's around the 32 mile marker. Zone 2 is south of that, Zone 3 is North. I 355 is Zone 5, I 88 is Zone 1, I 90 & I 390 are Zone 4.

I use this map. Zoom in on the mile markers...you can zoom in to see the .25 of the mile: Illinois Virtual Tollway

Troop 9 Secondary has been affiliating today with the DuPage site. No mobile traffic being heard, just DuQuoin Dispatch. Must all be using T9-Primary now. A few days ago, was hearing mobile and dispatch traffic on the Secondary channel.

I found myself wondering the other day, when combining multiple districts into Troops, how were they going to deal with any duplicate call signs (i.e. two troopers from different districts with the same numeric suffix but now in the same Troop). I may have happened upon the answer.

Former 17-38 (ID 1005212) now identifying on air as 2-39.

Will be interesting to see if that's going to be the standard way of managing duplicates (duplicate from the higher district takes next available numeric that isn't also in use?).

I hadn't spent much time listening to District 7 in the past, so I didn't have anything in my notes (or see in the wiki) whether a 7-38 or 7-39 previously existed, nor have I heard a 2-38 on the air in Troop 2 since restructuring,

Not sure if anyone has been checking that closely, but if you're updating radio IDs and notice any patten between previous and new call signs, please share.

I started updating the ISP Unit identifiers wiki page today. I don't listen to Troop 3 or 15 so I don't have many of them and a few southern troop aren't constantly covered by calls so its a bit hard to get some identifiers. I'll be adding some of the specialty units (non-troop cars) I have written down tonight or tomorrow.

Has anyone heard G (George) units using new identifiers? Theres a few of them in Kendall County and they still use 5-G-xxx instead of the new troop 3.

I took a look, but I'm not seeing any radio ID's with them, just call signs?
