OK it's Albany, Louisiana Police Department. Still unsure if Primary or Tac. This is in Livingston Parish.

For Rapides Parish, why does the commentary say there is heavy encryption, but the DB does NOT reflect that? Is there encryption; or is there not? If there is, which TGs are they?

Desoto Parish largely unconfirmed

12005 - Mansfield Fire (submitted)
12115 - District 2 Fire (not 100% due to patching I missed)
12118 - District 3 Fire (submitted)
12125 - District 9 Fire (submitted)

Many more id's in the 12000-12499 range need identifying. Some are Red River unknowns also.

Just curious, has anybody had any problems with receiving LWIN lately?
I made a trip yesterday on I10 through Slidell to Nola and decided to try out my new sds100 and the reception was terrible even in downtown new orleans it kept breaking up bad. I thought maybe I had programmed something wrong but it doesn't look like it.

What's the word on Lafayette TRS . I know the old system is completely shut down. Have they gone to push to talk over cellular?
From the RR database:

Public Safety

Louisiana Wireless Information Network (LWIN)
Project 25 Phase I
Almost all public safety communications in Lafayette Parish are on this statewide trunked radio system. Most law enforcement operations are encrypted and cannot be monitored.

I am new to the forum and new to (digital) scanning, scanning primarily in Rapides Parish. Did you ever receive confirmation of the answers to your encryption questions? I have a new SDS100 programmed by bearcatwarehouse and would like to verify if there are any changes I can make to increase channels received or if encryption in the Alexandria/Pineville area on fire/police channels means I'm maxed out. I appreciate it.

Currently, only Alexandria PD and maybe the City Marshal's for Alexandria and Pineville are encrypted, everything else in Rapides and the surrounding parishes are in the clear. All of the public safety and law enforcement are on LWIN. The Rapides Parish TRS has public works departments and some of the fire departments on it as well. There is no encryption on the Rapides TRS that I know of.

@lamopac, thanks for your thorough response. That helped me to manage my expectations about what I should and shouldn't be hearing. After reading your message and taking some time to better understand how the scanner handles trunked systems, I discovered that the site frequencies for LWIN, as professionally programmed, had been truncated to four non-zero digits past the decimal instead of five listed on RR. Assuming frequency tuning is sufficiently precise, I have to guess this is why I was receiving little or no traffic on LWIN but plenty from the Rapides Parish TRS. I am getting LWIN activity now. That said, I still have not heard any radio traffic from Alexandria or Pineville Fire or Pineville PD. Are the TGIDs listed on RR accurate? Any other suggestions?

The RR database for LWIN is correct for Rapides Parish.

Everything in the RR database is accurate, I'm not sure why you're not hearing those three departments. All of them can be heard on the Alexandria tower. I'm not sure what the problem could be.
