Anybody have an idea why the MARC channel is being used right now?

I'm in the Madison area and I'm hearing it full strength. It seems to possibly be coming from the Waupaca County area possibly. I thought I heard something about a plate returning to Wild Rose.

I'm just curious why it seems to be somewhat normal radio traffic on it but then at times hear something about command.

Just curious. I normally never hear that channel used other than for anything other than helicopter coordination around here.

I noted heavy traffic on MARC1 (151.28 repeater--a typo in your original note) yesterday, too. Sounded like traffic diversion for an exhibition in Albany, Green Co (based on locations given--and would also explain why signal strength is so good in Dane Co) with units using WSP call signs posted at 92/D, C/E, and C/104. DNR also appears to be involved. E is closed to traffic for some of this.

Why they need a Command Post for this with so many units is in question, however ...

Maybe they are doing one of those things where they are moving a house or something large down a narrow roadway.

And yes, I was hearing what sounded like some type of command post.

If it helps, Wild Rose is in Waushara county actually. And I have heard nothing here in New London on MARC all day today...

I think you're probably correct with the Farm Days in Green County.

I'm halfway out of it at the moment. I am typing the wrong frequency as well as the wrong county. I know what I was thinking, but the brain and the fingers are not working well in unison today.

Enough rambling about pretty much nothing.

From my location near Green Bay and with the VHF beam pointed 195 degrees, we are hearing capture effect and two distinct squelch tails of different durations after each transmission. Someone else has their system turned on in a nearby county.

I like how some counties/special people can leave their MARC 1 repeater on (for years), and nothing is said. And how with others, is turned on for testing and the world comes to an end. Odd eh ?

I also like how the state mandated a voice ID'er system to be implimented to verbally identify which MARC 1 is turned on, and every 30 mins afterwards during operation. Yet VERY few people have done it. Nice.
