All in all I think it is a good use of MD taxpayers money for the system and the way it is being set up and or upgrading the system and doing away with the T-1 lines. That is also a ton of data moving between microwave towers as well.

Heard a message that all DNR radios would be going down at 2 PM today for approximately 60 seconds. From RID 2135556.
Did you notice anything different after they came back on? I still see regular / unchanged data and voice flow on the AACo site as of right now.

Maybe rebooting the subs, idk. Anyway, you normally see a voice or system channel constantly transmitting during OTAR

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to share some of the things I have been logging in Garrett County.

Looks like there is some testing going on today on 'Garrett Fire/EMS Spec Ops Tac 2', 'Garrett Fire/EMS Spec Ops Tac 5' and 'GC Sheriff Tac 5.'

12626 I believe is GC Sheriff Tac 5. It's is encrypted, but tac 1 is in the clear for now. I saw 3 RIDs on Tac 5, 2421131, 2420110, and 2124749. 2124749, is aliased as W11 and 2420110 is 1103. I don't know who 2421131 belongs to.

Fire/EMS Special Ops Tac 2: I initially thought it was fully encrypted, but I heard 2124705 (Aliased as W11) saying "test, test" today.

The same radio (2124705) affiliated with 12645, GC F/E Special Ops Tac 5, and tried to key up but it was denied saying "DENY: GROUP VOICE SERVICE REQUEST: USER_OR_SYSTEM_DEFINED- INFO: 03165."

Another RID of 2420209, aliased as Ambulance 942, affiliated with and keyed up on GC Sheriff Tac 5. 942 then switched to 12646 and keyed up on Fire/EMS Special Ops Tac 5. Unknown what was said, both transmissions were encrypted.

So far, I have 290 IDs in the 242xxxx range in my alias list. 70 are aliased as Fire/EMS. 34 are aliased to GCSO. 160 of them are still marked as new IDs. I regularly see the new IDs showing up up in the Events Tab of SDRTrunk, they seem to affiliate with either GC Fire/EMS Tac 1 or F/E Main.

14216, 14220, 14228 (central area?), 14234 appear to be DNR Forestry Talkgroups. Seen/heard on AA, BC, & QA Sites. Activity is sporadic so it is hard to narrow who/what these talkgroups are.

Was thinking something like this, perhaps a regional arrangement like the Statewide TAC's, maybe..

Maybe? I guess it also depends on if Event 1 in the database is actually "event 1."

DNR (Forest, NRP, and Park Service) has some of the most confusing talkgroup layouts. I have been trying to figure out their talkgroups for years and its gets more and more difficult as they keep expanding their users and adding more talkgroups.

I also wonder if 757x talkgroups are also some kind of "Interop" talkgroups as I believe some/all are unencrypted.

I'm thinking 7540 is some sort of Park Ops channel. Last November during the prescribed burn of Dan's Mountain, that talkgroup was very active with talk about controlling fire. Seems like there may have been a small burn a few weeks ago somewhere. It was active again with the same kind of traffic. Heard DNR dispatch (2135554) calling for any available Park Ranger near the Green Ridge State Forest on March 3rd at 3:31 PM.

Lots encrypted traffic on 8512, 11846, 7430, and McHenry W Tac 7378 tonight. Seeing MSP W RIDs on 8512 and 7430. Some of the RIDs are of CE units and some are from the W barrack. One CE unit went on the unencrypted MSP W talkgroup and there was talk about someone being the 5th car back from the apparatus.

There must be more planned talkgroups for Garrett County. I've seen a unit affiliate with 12671 and I've seen an ambulance radio affiliate 12681, and 12682. There haven't been any transmissions over those talkgroups, but they must serve a purpose if those are programmed in the radios.

Due to the Governor's request for social distancing and the concern for the well being of our citizens, the March 18, 2020 Radio Control Board meeting will be tentatively postponed until April 22, 2020. In early April, we will reevaluate the situation and make the appropriate decision based on the conditions at the time.

I haven't heard any Garrett County Fire/EMS dispatch traffic on 12601 since around Noon today. It's been going over 158.775, 155.775 but nothing on FiRST. It's usually patched over from VHF. The same with GCSO Disp on 12621, also nothing. Both talkgroups seemed to stop around the same time.

Still hearing traffic on GC Sheriff Tac 1. Seems like most GCSO traffic is on there for now. All the digital radios have been using tac 1 for months now. All the analog radios were patched into GCSO dispatch, and then dispatch and tac 1 were patched together.

The contractor has to install full functionality consoles in the county's ECC at some point - I don't think Garrett is officially live on FiRST yet. The county was operating on consollettes loaned to them by the state (which are gloried subscribers with power supplies.) I'd expect some changes as the cutover becomes closer. AFAIK, communications workers are classified as essential, so I think they would still be working.
