And... Cumberland City Police have been quiet for about a month now. Heard a rumor that they are on a different frequency . The person may have meant site ( I noticed there is a new tower not far from the 911 center in Cumberland. )

That tower would be unrelated to FIRST. Cumberland's primary site is the Allegany simulcast site, but I'm sure some traffic is also carried on the Allegar simulcast site. The LaVale subsite just recently came online - which simulcast site is it associated with? - might be AlleGar. Both AlleGar and Allegany should be enabled in any programming on a scanner. If using a G4/5, that radio will lock the first site it finds that provides adequate signal strength. In a few years, there will be a new site to enhance coverage in the city, but they haven't even selected a property to build it on yet.

I have a SDS200 scanner, I've been listening to ALL of the local as well as well as Garrett and Washington Co systems for a few years now . Everything was working great until a few weeks ago when the Cumberland City Police went quiet. I'm not the only person out this way who has said they haven't heard them in awhile. So I'm wondering if they went encrypted.

Pardon the pun, but it sounds like it. I was headed out to Hagerstown today, so maybe I can extend the trip to the Cumberland area to see what's going on.

Everything else sounds great, I've stopped the scanner on the Cumberland City Police channel and waited for 15 to 20 minuites and heard nothing. I get 4 to 5 bars here at my house ( about 5 miles south of Cumberland. ) I take the SDS200 to work with me and I'm allowed to have the scanner in one of my work area's.. notta peep out of them. I also have multiple favorite list one is ID scan and one is ID search incase their talkgroup ID was changed.

I've been in Cumberland for about an hour and have not seen any traffic on Cumberland Police's tg as listed in the RRDB. There does not seem to be any new tgs showing up, however tg 11846 "Allegany LE Tac" is very busy for a tac channel. Is there a possibility that this tg has been reassigned to Cumberland Police? It is an encrypted tg.

That is possible I guess, and that would explain things.

Cumberland PD was encrypted on their Passport system prior to MD FIRST. There's a nutcase that follows them around filming them with a video camera and posts it on Facebook. Maybe that has some influence on them switching back?

This is dated but I had Cumberland PD using radio ids of 220600x - 220604x, 2216000-221605x.
I’ll check the data closely when I get back, but I’ve made a pit stop at Lures.

I’m pretty confident this is what happened. It’s possible / probable that the “Allegany LE Tac” talk group has always been a channel used /hosted by Cumberland PD, and using it was an expedient way to implement encryption - might also result in savings for a dispatch position and having to reprogram/ touch radios. I watched the data for about 2.5 hours total on the Allegany, AlleGar, and Warrior Mtn sites, and never saw an unknown tg pop up, but saw MSP, ACSO, Frostburg, and Frostburg Univ police forces tgs in use. I can’t imagine the Cumberland PD being silent for so long.

Yea, I think tg 11846 is the new talk group for Cumberland Police - the units seem to be 22060xx; theri console 2200037, xxx41. See attached for a short view.

EDIT: I think 2200041 is the Sherriff's dispatch console as I see it on their tg, and their mobiles 22062xx.

Has anyone compiled a list of what talkgroups availible on specific sites? Been monitoring AACo simulcast, but not hearing much traffic from the western counties. Thanks

And typically, you should not. You will hear traffic on the Anne Arundel site for users that are in the service area of the Anne Arundel site. From time to time, you will hear a distant user for various reasons. It is not uncommon to hear NRP Areas 7/8 or 1/2 on the Anne Arundel site, and occasionally you will hear Talbot and Caroline county units.

So while monitoring the Frederick County System (county system) I noticed some First activity/user from the First system who may have been trying to access the system. I don’t know what they would be trying to access as Frederick County has no TG’s to access coming from the First. Perhaps trying Wave or now cortical connect by smart phone or a new “Next” APX radio ???

That can happen when a subscriber loses connectivity with its home system. Or perhaps a user is trying to access a Frederick County talk group but the Frederick sysadmins have not added the FIRST subscriber's RID to its authentication list.

Seeing and hearing activity on TG 7346 as of 8:00am this morning via the Montgomery County Simulcast site. It appears to be MSP Rockville. Glad to hear they have patched it over to the First System finally. I would assume now that College Park and Forestville will be poping up and able to be heard now. I’ll keep an eye on it but so far nothing from them.
