0910- Hover flt (3 X T-38s Langley) w/ZDC Richmond (285.55) on way back from Evers MOA. A2A is 238.825.

NOTE: on way back they QSY'ed to a Norfolk freq. Only caught the last part 0.6. Can't find a .6 freq listed for Norfolk. Anyone know what it is?
Most likely 360.600. It's a western 'outer' freq for Norfolk Approach. Have been hearing a fair amount of Langley-bound traffic on it this week.

Sure about that Ramstein stop? I checked the Sleep option overnight and just found them over Greece. But there is a media report this morning that they're going to stop in Qatar for fuel and a brief meeting with the Emir.

They stopped at Ramstein, landing at 0615 ET, before going to Qatar and then Malayasia, and left Ramstein at 0737 ET.

0737 ET, AF1 is wheels up at 1:35 to Qatar. Flight time is approx 6 hours.
1305 ET, AF1 is wheels down 8:04pm local time. POTUS is expected to meet with the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar on the plane as we refuel.
1505 ET, AF1 is wheels up at 10:04pm to Malaysia. Flight time is just under seven hours.

Don't hold your breath on the USS Ford group anytime soon as now in Eastern Med on duty.
They might have to swing by Norfolk NAS base on way South for supplies and crew logistics etc.

Yeah hopefully that Hurricane down there will clear out to Northeast before carrier gets there.
Imagine ships down there now are staying clear so not good for any boats to be out in those waves :)

E-6 departed Andrews this morning orbiting on MD/PA State line at 19k.
Looks like he is doing laps around Site-R.

Just a theory regarding the TACAMO circling Site R at lower-than-usual altitude: Back in the olden days...the various continuity of government (and retaliation) aircraft reportedly had a "loss of comms" plan to circle over Site R and the other ground locations. If they saw only a large hole where the installation was supposed to be, they took that as confirmation that the problem was more serious than a comms loss. So if any of that is true, it would make sense to have the crews get a familiarization with the local terrain from time to time.

But, hey--we're talking 1950s stuff here and I'd like to think the COG system is a bit more sophisticated now. Luckily, my radio receivers are, too.

i wonder if they're balancing an altitude to keep ATC happy vs. minimizing line of sight on their airborne transmissions.
