1306 local - F/A-18E Super Hornet (169115) was briefly showing on ADSB heading South from NAS Oceana.

Pres Carter on arrival in Georgia is supposed to get missing man Navy flyover.
Maybe F/18s for that occasion? Flyover scheduled for 5:20PM local.

It will be F-18s from NAS Oceana. They were staged a few days ago at NAS Jacksonville for the flyover.
Maybe they decided to send a spare or 2 down to Jacksonville today :)

OT: zoom in on LA area on ADSB and lots of water fire choppers working fires out there.

NIGHTHAWK flight after St Louis stop working way back to DC area.

Article on the group there. Oceana was busy today. A lot of W72, Phelps MOA, and Pamlico MOA work in NC.

OT: The inaugural launch of the Blue Origin - New Glenn rocket off of Cape Canaveral, FL has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 8 between 0600z-0945z.
Postponed again as offshore waters are choppy as all heck. Not good for landing booster stage.
Gonna try again Sunday at 1am. Sure has been windy and cold from here to Florida.

Hey everyone!

I will be busy this year, but I am able to give you some, more or less, good info.

If you hear callsign ZAPATA, this will be Strike Eagles from the 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson AFB. Both, the 335th FS 'Chiefs' and the 336th 'Rocketeers' use callsign ZAPATA to spin up with SOF units, including Navy Seal Team 1 to 18, DEVGRU, and Army's elite Ranger Regiment, Delta Force, Green Berets and U.S. Air Force STS.

Sadly have no freqs for this one, it was documented from a SOF operator, and the range they were exercising was not disclosed. The combined exercise included multiple show of force flyovers (with afterburners on) and night strafe's. Chaff and flares were used too.

This is a hardcopy from the document found recently. The link and page from the original photo were removed and therefore no longer available. The post included multiple SOF member statements, but it's all gone now :(

now a little O/T

The 4th FW regularly flies flags onboard their aircraft. You can request one @: Seymour Johnson | 4th Force Support Squadron

Or if you have a friend serving in the Air Force, you can ask him/her for a flag.
