Off Topic: IAD announces requirements for inauguration period and aircraft arriving/departing during this period.

Increased flight operations are expected at Washington Dulles International (IAD) as well as other Washington DC area airports between January 17-22, 2025 associated with the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2025. MWAA will be closing Runway 1L/19R at IAD for aircraft long term parking beginning on Friday, January 17 or Saturday, January 18 (monitor NOTAMs for exact timing).
Washington Dulles International (IAD) Departure Slot Requirements
  • Departure slots will be required for aircraft departing IAD on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Departure slots can be obtained through your IAD FBO of choice (Atlantic Aviation or Signature Flight Support).
  • It is also recommended that flight operators provide an arrival date and time so FBOs are aware of flight details.

Washington Dulles International (IAD) Parking Plans

  • Overnight or extended operations can expect to park at a site on the west side of the airfield. Runway 1L/19R will be closed for parking, and additional parking will be available on the west portion of the “W” pad. Aircraft will proceed directly to the west side parking spots upon arrival.
  • The FBOs will provide ground transportation to/from the aircraft and their facility.
  • The FBOs will do all possible to allow “drop-and-go” operations to utilize their main FBO ramps and not have to utilize the secondary parking areas.
The DCA Access Program (DASSP) will not be available during the Inauguration TFR scheduled on Monday, January 20 (NOTAM will be published approximately 5-7 days prior to January 20th)

Reservations are not required for operations in/out of Manassas Regional (HEF) although it is highly recommended that flight operators contact their FBO at HEF to provide their flight schedule prior to operation.

I did hear SPINE31 and 32 break from VINYL81 and contact Chicago Center on 319.200 a little later, requesting a divert to Offutt AFB in Omaha.
There was a SPINE33 in the mix as well. Didn’t have those SPINE callsigns on my list. A lot of action in my neighborhood this morning. I like it!

Thanks, SPINE 31-36 and SPINE 41-46 were all cleared to Hill AFB on Coronet West 407.
SPINE 31/32 diverted to Offut AFB as you said, the others should have made it to Hill AFB.

OT: DCA shutting down for the night to focus on clearing runways.
Got lucky here only 3 inches but 20 miles farther South 6 plus.
Funny that January snow evokes such news headlines like I saw one on Fox Weather.
"Deadly snow Storm hitting millions". Since when did January snow become Deadly? 😜

Members assigned to the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron operate snowplows to clear the flight line at Joint Base Andrews, Md., Jan. 6, 2025. The 316th CES snow barn started 24-hour operations to clear snow and ice on the flight line in preparation for upcoming no-fail airlift missions. Well you got 4 McChord Potus type support C-17's enroute Andrews area tonight it seems.
RCH-4153,4619,RCH-3265 and RCH-4557 are on the move eastbound tonight.
You may catch the first 3 A/A on 319.400 AMC common.
Probably had to dust off the snow plows as been a long time since serious snow at Andrews :)

Not in my area and with the lack of a good antenna, but I'm listening
:(
Two or all 3 them now seem headed your way possibly.. :) Turning way Southeast.
Acars RCH-4619 shows Andrews as original dest. Maybe they are dodging the incoming heavy winds too.
Forecast tomorrow around here is wind gusts up to 40 mph perhaps. Getting real breezy here tonight already.
Kind of strange to see 3 C-17's from same McChord base but with different parallel courses down this way.
Winds may already be out of limits at Andrews.
Potus planes already almost to California. #09-0018 seems is AF-1.#09-0015 backup staged at Jackson Miss.

Off Topic? Absb showing pretty clear in my area, so I zoomed out and saw a cluster of activity in Rose MOA in Alabama, there were a large number of military helicopters there, I saw in excess of 30 at one point and more to the southwest near Pensacola, FL. I'm familiar with all the pilot training out of there and it's not an area I tend to focus on, thus it may not be that unusual, but I thought it was noteworthy. Don't know if there are any online scanners that might pick up any of their comms or if we have any members in range of that area. Rose_MOA_7Jan20024-1507Z.JPG

You might try to find some LiveATC feeds in that area. I know Pensacola is on LiveATC.
