i agree with you, this hobby i have been enjoying for 30 years is slowly imploding. I dont think its totally because of the audio feeds, but they do have some factor in the end of LE comm monitoring in many areas. I also think this will have a dramatic negative effect in the business of scanners, and related products, even this RR database, and many companies will suffer....I have stopped my scanner purchases.. i would have spent $1000 this year... now, no way!!! we are witnessing the slow death of this hobby... How about instead of selling our scanners we write our local departments about transparency and keeping non-sensitive day-to-day operations in the clear while maintaining "secure" channels for sensitive operations? It's not a surefire way to resolve this, but it definitely could help if enough people write.

dont waste your time. The PD's are spending huge amounts of money to keep all of their comms secret.... most counties in nj from middlesex and south... thats the new attitude....

Only way you could really have a shot at changing their minds is if you amass a very large group of people to agree to boycott the communities using encryption. It would have to be enough to make a major impact on bottom lines and tax revenues. It's not impossible but not very easy either.

Looks like Manalapan PD is operational on TG 5002 which I have tentatively as Central Patrol 2. Englishtown is on 5004.

Curiously I also logged ID 3301066 on EMS North and Central. I suspect this is a portable for the Monmouth Beach fire chief.

Those of you that are picking up EMS what brand and model scanners are you using?

Any model that is capable of decoding P25 Phase 2. Some include Uniden BCD325P2, BCD996P2, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, GRE PSR 800, Radio Shack Pro 668, Whistler WS1088, WS1098, TRX-1, TRX-2.

I'm tracking on Pro96Com with my BCD996XT and trying to listen on a BCD536HP. I need to get an external antenna up on the gable to listen better. I'm only running with the telescoping on the back of the scanners. They are sitting next to each other on a window sill on my first floor and for some reason the 536HP doesn't like to open up audio when scanning the EMS channels and I can only listen when I'm on HOLD on a channel. I'm guessing it's just a reception issue being that the window sill it basically at ground level.

Castor, 286 and everybody else- I'm running a RS 668 on the system and see the same effect. It stops on the EMS TG'S (and others) but no audio. Doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be a problem. Not just you guys & Uniden radios. Just FYI.

Monmouth County Fire?

Hello all, does anyone know if the Monmouth Fire North, Central, South, and all Fireground channels plan on switching to this system instead of using the current VHF frequencies? Thanks

Negative, the fire communications plan states fire is staying on VHF. In fact, when they went to the TRS they are re-using other Monmouth county vhf frequencies in this new north/south/central plan. This is to keep fire on VHF.
Only exceptions seem to be the possibility of Neptune / Asbury Park / very few others soon. From what I gather, Neptune/Asbury/Any few others will not be encrypted for any fire comms - EMS will not be encrypted either.

Fire WILL be going to TRS and the TRS will be the primary system. VHF will remain up and running though. Neptune and Asbury seem to be going first.
