If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Motorola R7 firmware R02.25.01.1002 issue

I have 2 radios motorola R7, firmware versions R02.22.01.3004 (CP version 22.21.30) and R02.22.01.1005 (22.21.10) and have installed on my computer 'motorola R7 R0225011002_252106 portable update packages. When i look in the files, i can see 'R02.25.01.1002.lmx' also the map 'MDH06RDN9WA2AN'.

I think the cps 2.0 (2024) cannot find the package(s) for upgrade because it might be incorrectly installed on the hard drive.

os >program files (x86) > motorola > mototrbo upgrade packages > update > ... ?

I don't know in which folder the cps 2.0 looks for upgrade.

Does anyone know how the folders are installed so that it works correctly? Or am I thinking wrong?

when it says no matching packages exist that means your firmware is up to date
No, it doesnt. It means that there is some Windows bull**** going on. I had this happen to me.

Firstly, install latest cps as admin Then reinstall update package. It should show up then.

I do it all day on multiple radios and get this message when doin PM's on radios with firmware updates. When the firmware needs upgrades it runs the update. When the radio firmware is current we get this message.. no windows BS same model radios upgraded. Latest firmware packages and CPS

ok, i am back :) ..... so i have cps 2024... it is new. check
.....BUT!
I install firmware for dp4400. Radio with cable .... and i click on 'upgrade' ... after a few seconds i can see on my screen: 'firmware update' "selected devise' and i can see the dp4000, look at the picture pls.

I do not get this wit de radio R7, when i try ... i get the message: ' not machting package '. The software (new firmware r7) is on my computer for the firmware, but someting go's wrong.

When i delete de software (new firmware) dp4400, and i try again to read the radio in de CPS.... i get the message 'not machting package'.

my conclusion is that i need to find out what the route is for the r7 in the motorola software.

it starts with...(?)..... 'deviceupdate'> update >

Does anyone know the route? Then I can set the software correctly in my computer... it should work but it doesn't work now

Your issue is that R7 R0225011002_252106 requires CPS/RM 2.153.167 (M2025.01) not the older R.151.092 version of CPS/RM that was distributed with M2024.02.

For almost every release of Subscriber firmware, there is a comparable release of CPS/RM. While current and future releases of CPS/RM can generally program/upgrade older versions of Firmware, they can not handle newer versions.

the problem was.... the cps 2024 was old (version). i received the newer cps 2024 from the dealer in Germany. now i could install the firmware. it is strange that motorola cps does not give a message on the screen "cps too old for the firmware". All R7's have the new firmware. thanks for the responses. And.. People from Europe cannot create an account with Motorola. Only residents of America.:)

Motorola puts notes in a seperate section along with firmware file, you just have to click on it and read the pdf.
