996xt or 396xt, both are great. That home Patrol in my book is a paper weight.

so the 996xt and the 396xt are better then the BCD536HP ? Wow I didn't know that, are they easy to program and operate ?

Thank you both for your reply's.

The Madawaska site has been up and running for a number of weeks now. MSP and the game wardens appear to be the major users at this point. (I hope to acquire additional user information soon.)

151.3175 and 159.7275 are the two frequencies used. Both have been observed being used for voice and control channel data during the last two weeks.

Houlton RCC (741) is the usual destination for calls, they seem to have a couple of consoles there which sport sequential IDs.

As a side note, a pair of cheap R820T dongles, VAC, Unitrunker and DSD+ do a wonderful and cheap job for my listening pleasure here.

The 436hp/536hp while "Home Patrol" are not what people are referring to when they say Home Patrol, they are referring to the HP-1/HP-2.

I use a 436hp along with a 396xt and 996xt. The 436hp is a fantastic radio, you won't be unhappy with it, it is not a paperweight at all ... the HP-1 however is a great doorstop.

I have heard testing on 154.725 in the Augusta & Waterville Area the last three days.
Thats the Coggan's Hill Region Net channel. It is a VHF to Trunked Patch channel which simulcast only the dispatch side of stuff from Augusta RCC.

Sheesh, you buy a P25 scanner here in Maine a few years ago,( p25 wise ) very little to hear. Now we got the full package, p25 trunking, and VHF analog patches. The only -patch- I hear now is UHF 460.125-192.8.. I hear Grey only. Good thing I invested when I did.

Heres a stupid question on one of the state sites that lists the new system and the freqs. why do they state its a p25 analog and not list any digital?

??
P25 is Digital not Analog.

What site or document are you referencing ?
It (assumption) could be the site is dual mode (supports both P25 and Analog)

They were added to the DB a couple weeks ago. They aren't under the Trunked System but instead under a MSCommNet State Services under.

Dont't worry Tom, the end pf the year is hear. I-O-W, They should be on air anytime after tonight. I just heard State check in with Waldo County on ID:1716. They gotta be close to being done. I'l be monitoring both analog and their trunk today/night.. See if they give the signal to SWITCH OVER...

This is just speculation.

The latest official information, from the November announcement by MEMA concerning the RegionNets, was that the conversion is scheduled to begin sometime in February. It will take place from north to south, starting with the Zone 4 Houlton RCC area and moving on from there. The entire process will, most likely, take several weeks.

Yeah, that makes sense. Instead of telling --everyone-- to switch over at the same time, it could flood dispatch with dozens of --test,test-- at the same time.
North to south? OK, I just thought they'd go region 1,2, so on.. I caught 2 new ID's today doing check ins with Waldo County.

I did hear 1 of the patches this summer, every time I went to Kittery, 155.4525-pl-162.2 was testing. That stopped in mid August.

It has been a long wait to get rid of that csq system, just anxious to hear a real talkgroup without it being a business, like the ltr system on Aggie.. OK, thanks 45

Where did you get this info? The state police use their license plate number for radio car signs and the state prison uses 400 and 500 series numbers with admin using double digit only all signs. 1800 I've heard on forestry freqs and its the forest rangers.

They will still be using the call signs. The Radio Unit ID's are displayed on some scanners so you have a idea of who is talking. Most Uniden scanners 2009 and up have a feature that'll let you display the Unit IDs and the new Radio Shack scanners also do.

Plus with this being a new system we are unsure of who a lot of the users are and stuff.
