My name is Tony and I live in Trinity, NC My call sign is KG4TAH. I am a detective for Thomasville, PD. I have a nice collection of 2 meter, 70 cm, and 6 meter radios (too many to list here, dont feel like all the typing). The only scanner I have at this time is a Radio Shack Pro-96. I normally listen to Thomasville Public Safety, Davidson County public safety, Guilford/Greensboro, Winston-Salem/Forsyth, SHP, Amateur Radio, and Air. I also like to listen to Myrtle Beach via my blackberry thanks to Radio References live audio feeds :)

Mostly just a 396XT, with an Icom 718 for HF work.

~What do you monitor on a daily basis?

I don't monitor anything specific on a daily basis : I enjoy the technical challange of identifying and/or locating different types of signals (voice and digital). I'm an Application Engineer at Rohde & Schwarz and work with our radiomonitoring/radiolocation products, so I also do monitoring (and/or direction finding) for our customers as part of my job.

I've been thinking of putting my 396XT to better use, so I'm planning to start doing some more Triangle/RTP area monitoring and possibly more airband monitoring as well.

Paul,
Good to have you with us! If you want to get your feet wet with some aviation monitoring I will be up at KRDU General Aviation Tomorrow Afternoon with my 396xt and Yaesu VX-5R and Canon XT camera doing some aviation photography & monitoring.
I will also have my programming laptop with me as at least one other radio geek will be there needing to have his radio updated.
Stop by if you want and say hello!
Email me if you need directions.
Happy Monitoring!

Is it ok to post here regarding a name change? I upgraded to Extra class and received a new callsign, so I requested an account name change to reflect the update. Lindsay had me squared away in under 5 mins - MAJOR "kudos" and a gold star to the radioreference.com support staff!

Previously KE4SHD, I'm now N9WA.
