I monitor Union County Communications (C-COM) conventional, which includes county fire,county sheriff, Monroe police and fire.
Also trying to monitor Union County ( Monroe ) VIPER 800MHZ sites, both analog and digital. Seems to be a mixed bag here and I have to admit a bit confusing at times. Main communications on 800 analog, some unidentified digital talkgroups that sound like car to car and car to dispatch, and even some dispatches on vhf.

Pro-2052 is tuned into FPD dispatch and car-to-car for both districts (this radio provides the audio for my feed).

Pro-97 monitors most FPD and city FD talkgroups, as well as some CCSO, NCSHP, and various VIPER at times.

Hoping to add a digital rig to my collection soon, as this will allow me to monitor Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB (Pope AAF by the time I get it lol)

I have had scanners since the mid 1970's (yes crystal types) when I was 14. You could say I have been in and out of the hobby for many years, and now I am trying to get a digital scanner to keep up. Probably will be a PRO 106 since I have connections to Radio Shack.

And I will say I am feeling lost now with VIPER and talk groups ~ new terms to me.

Trying to play catch up and read the forums and wiki's.

Looking forward to getting back into monitoring again.

I can certainly relate! I began playing with CB and scanners about 1968 while I was in the Navy at Pearl Harbor. It amazed me that I was able to talk "barefoot" on a 5 watt CB from there to the mainland in California. The trunked systems throw me too...which is why I had my Bearcat programed for this area when I purchased it. I am trying to understand it though...

Welcome Richard! Great choice in the 396XT and I would recommend the free software Freescan to help you get it programmed. We also have a Freescan Starter file thread that should help you out as well.
