There is such a way -put it on the submission ticket and it will be added as notes in the entry...;

I've seen a plethoria of folks buying WS1040-1065s, Pro 106-197s and some go into sticker shock when they find out their system is going to go, or has gone to P2. Obviously this shows people who aren't doing their homework before buying...Mike

Right now, only FDMA waveforms are licensed, even though the system reports itself as Phase 2. The county would require more tower sites for a robust Phase 2 system. 8-12 mile spacing between sites seems optimal for P2.

TBH, if people want to hear pristine audio on a Phase 1 or Phase 2 system, they need to invest in the right equipment.

Looks like the HCPD has cut over to the new system.

Not sure if anyone else is left on the old Motorola system now. Most of the activity I see now is connected over from the p25 and occasional people with their radio in the wrong zone.

Yes, there are still users on the old SmartZone system, particularly one marked "Ellicott City Building Coordinators" (tg37008.) Some police units mark up using what looks like old radios judging by their UIDs.

It looks like the old Motorola system has been shut down.
Sounds like they are moving the frequencies over to the P25 system now.

Those are what were left on the Motorola system which is now dead.

Think I heard them today going from site to site turning off the old Quantars.

Does anyone happen to have a Pro-668 file for Howard County I can try? I set mine up with a new Vscanner dedicated to the new P25, it scans, but I get nothing when scanning. Nothing on the S-meter.
My Pro-96 is at least getting something, when it doesn't garble.

Thanks,

Mike

Good luck. P25P1 LSM will be difficult with older scanners.

I understand, but I should be getting something on this 668. I get Phase 2 just fine. And I get Howard about 90% on my real old Pro-96. Again, just looking for a file I can try, then I'll report back on performance.

It's not really about Phase 1 or 2, it's more about where you are in relation to a transmit site - or multiple sites. With a non-optimised radio, you need to be really close to one tower site, and far away from any others. Easier to do with a wide area system like FIRST; harder to do with a more localized county system where the sites are closer together. Good luck - I know the Balto County people had a hard time when they went to a P1 LSM system.

Yes, again, I understand all that. Just want to try a working file, then I'll report back. One scanner works and the other doesn't, in the same room. Want to rule out a configuration error. Let's give it a few days to see if someone with a file responds.

Thanks

Glad you got it working - I did a test load of the new Howard system in my GRE800 nee WS1080, and was going to drive to Columbia today to test it, but now not required. The last time I loaded a P25 simulcast system in it was to test FIRST in Cecil County, and that did not go well - very poor results. It was mostly deaf, while the SDS was busy receiving everything.

Yeah, it's a little choppy, but not bad enough to drop $700 for a new radio. That's based on my preference of only being interested in one county/system. (HoCo)

OP25 might be an option for you if you have an old computer - works extremely well, and is well suited to monitoring one system.

Picked up E-82 on 10903 today., I'm thinking A3. Also heard some chatter on 11187. I think its Parks & Rec chatter channel. Two females were chatting about closing up.
