• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

x.32 UPDATE info 5000/3000

From what I could get over the phone.
a DMR fix, a Power Out on 1st PTT fix, and a display bug fix with talkgroup names.

Should you update? your call, but would not hurt.

.31 update DMR Update, fixed a DES encryption issue on DMR Site roaming that was submitted a while back.
and a scan issue where scan would lock up on zones 9 or 10.

Sorry if this is considered a hijack - Just got a bulletin from my system control centre saying that "current Kenwood firmware" does not allow a user to knock down/cancel emergency alarm on our Harris P25 system. I've asked for clarity but so far they haven't told me which version of FW was tested for this issue. Anyone know if 4.40 is at fault or solves this?

As soon as you have clarity (KENWOOD NX or EFJ VP series) I will email one of the two tech support people I know and find out.

The reply I got was "The following firmware versions tested/reported issue with emergency clearing"

2.3
3.1
4.2

I am assuming 4.2 refers to the NX5000 series which is what I have. I know I am running at least 4.3 on most if not all my radios. I haven't bothered trying an emergency alarm or clear yet.

Here and there
I recall on emergency alarm RX it would continue to display a alarm unless I changed channel. Does this apply to a radio emitting a emergency to a console or both or just receiving a emergency call? Will update to latest and see.

If anyone wants the configuration for your emergency alarm rx to sound like a motorola let me know ill share the configuration for the audio times.

Any details on what was resolved with this FW update? We may have just found a new issue...
