• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You were operating at an elevated privilege without knowing it.

This is a huge security risk.
No, that's not it; I never disabled UAC. I may be remembering how I launched it incorrectly since I didn't launch PPS that much, but I never disable UAC.

How's the link to Radio Reference DB working? v0.4.0 Beta 32, I couldn't ever get to log in to RRDB

So I'm still running on the last pre-4.0 PPS with the latest firmware on my G5. What advantage is there to moving to 4.0 if I'm only programming one pager?

And I would think v0.3.0 has seen it’s last update so you would eventually need to move to v0.4.0.

To realize the benefit of the public resources, you will have to rebuild your programming from scratch.

You can export sites and control channels and reimport into the resource. TGIDs take some sorting, but it wasn't too bad. I have about 1500 TGIDs and it took about an hour to break them up with the appropriate systems.

Can the pager simply be read by 4.0+ without having to re-program from scratch?

That's what I'm questioning. For a single pager, I don't see any benefit to rebuilding my programming just to use the public resource feature and unless some earth shattering feature comes out that I absolutely must have, I can probably stick with v3 PPS.

The advantage mostly comes when programming multiple systems, the V4.0 PPS allows you to save TGs (and other resources) by system, compared to the V3 PPS that saved all TGs as one group.

I saw that as well and I could see it saving some time programming new systems.
