That's news to me, I've never been able to put a firmware update on a SD card that is removed from the radio and inserted in the computer. I've always needed the radio itself with the SD card in its socket.

Can anybody weigh in on this?
I did one (feed) scanner in the radio, the other SDS 200 I took the SD Card out and put it in a USB adapter connected to the computer to update it. Scanner updated when I reinstalled the SD card in it and turned it on. I didn't want to drag the other scanner to the computer so I just took the card. You could do mobile mounted scanner this way.

Yes I have to use an adapter also with my computer when I do editing or database updates but this is great news for me as I was never able to put a firmware update directly on an SD card. It's been so long of course ;) but I remember it not allowing me to do it a long time ago so I never tried again. Was it always like this or did an updated version of Sentinel have anything to do with it? This is great news, thanks everybody!

Does this mean the old Sentinel needs to be uninstalled? I am getting the same message, "timed out." I am getting rather annoyed. I am going to put this to rest and return at a later date or time.

No, the new version over writes the old.

Actually I am listening via a Bluetooth headphone paired to a USB powered Bluetooth adapter (powered by the USB A port on front of the sds200) plugged into a ground loop eliminator that is plugged into the front headphone jack.

I have a similar setup but a HPII.

This ‘ground loop eliminator’.. I have a constant buzz that I tried to eliminate with ferrite beads, a ground loop eliminator for car audio, all with no change. My knowledge of electronics is basic.
Which ground loop eliminator are you using? Does it go in series with the audio cable?

It would be interesting to know if the update includes TDMA control channels.

Nothing in the firmware update notes about it - I'd think that would be something they would include on there since it's a fairly big thing, if they did implement it.

Tried taking the SD card out of the SDS100 and putting straight into slot in computer to update and doesn't make any difference if left in scanner or put in slot in computer. Still says "This version of the scanner is the current version."
Will probably have to wait until Monday to see how Uniden responds.

Apparently fyi some of the recently shipped SDS 200's already had this firmware...I've had mine a couple months and noticed when I got it the firmware was newer than what was listed on their website
Updated my sentinel, then checked to make sure and it said firmware was latest version also.

Hi all!
Can the firmware be copied from the SD card? If so, can it then be copied to another card and put in the radio updating the firm ware? Is this possible?
