I think TG 7101 is Cedar Forest ES and I'm trying to determine what 7515 is used for. Either a bus supervisor channel or bus to bus communication.

Does anyone have a couple of SDRs that's in range of the Spotsy system that can set up a Broadcastify calls node? I used to host a calls node, but was on the fringes of the system, and have since moved too far away to receive it. Would help to ID talkgroups as well.

Caught 7017 again today. This is the Utilities Department - Laboratory Services Division...aka water quality testing. I submitted it to the database.

This is actually the Massaponax Wastewater treatment plant on HCC Dr. The lab is at this location. I heard a radio roll call with the smaller FMC plant on capital Dr.

I caught a keyup on this TG yesterday. Seems to be in the Fire/Rescue TG assignment order.

I thought I identified the correct TGs for Freedom Middle School, but on TG7101 I have the same names being called on the radio. I am not sure if a change was made to the Freedom radios or not. I have two radios monitoring both today.

Okay I think I have it now. Freedom Middle has more channels. TG7101 is Called "Activity 1" it is channel 5 for Freedom Middle. This maybe a systemwide channel. I am holding off calling it for Freedom Middle.

I believe Louisa's ECC has a tri-band control station that they set to the Louisa 1 talkgroup on Spotsy's system, and then patch into the appropriate channel on their own system. That's usually Motorola's solution to temporarily patching talkgroups from different systems together.
Today it sounds like a training exercise. Spotsy is on Interop 1 and Louisa is on OPS 9. I guess the resulting patch is Louisa 1 on the spotsy system.

Must be two consolettes tied together. Interesting. Did the RIDs pass through or was it one RID on either system?

I wish I would have had that displayed on the 536hp. It's in simple mode. It was actually the event at the camground in Bumpass near the dam.

I know in the past when I've monitored systems with Harris consoles, sometimes the dispatcher is in the clear (due to operator error) for a few days and then goes back to encrypted after a bit. Not saying that's the case here by any means. It happens pretty often with Charles City County.

Question to confirm this is not the case - are the dispatchers transmitting with the same ID all the time, or are they using different IDs every so often? Not sure what kind of schedule Spotsy's ECC runs, but I'd look for different IDs around shift change times, so maybe 0600/1800 or 0700/1900. Also anytime you hear a new voice. When a dispatcher needs a break, usually another dispatcher pulls the channel up on their console, so the ID will change for a moment.

If all of the different console IDs are in the clear, that means it's intentionally clear. If it's just one console that's clear, it's probably a matter of time before they go back. I'm hopeful, though! It might start a trend.

I’ve noticed that too in Charles City. Mainly on the hoot owl shift. When I was working nights in CC in January, noticed it. Like you said, soon as the days dispatcher came on it was back encrypted

Yeah. I suspect that the Harris symphony consoles (or whoever is programming them) makes the talkgroup default to encrypted, but it remains selectable by the dispatcher. Then, when they load a new configuration, the talkgroup goes back to secure. I know the Motorola MCC7500s can be "strapped" secure without providing the dispatcher the ability to toggle, but also have an option to make encryption selectable.

I was within range of Spotsy's system tonight, and observed the console RID of 41100510 in the clear on "Patrol 1", I observed within that same timeframe similar RIDs from what I can safely assume are also consoles of 41100530 and 41100550, encrypted. So my assumption remains the above that a dispatcher accidentally changed their console to be clear on Patrol 1, and at some point soon, or as soon as someone from their agency sees this thread, the console will be changed back to E.

*The RIDs may not be exactly correct, they're from memory, but the point stands.
