Someone has been doing a lot of testing on the 800 side using TG 41808. Sounds like they may be on the 700 side also (either 4143 or 2613).

From the street names it sounds like it may be Cedar Grove.

Looks like 4143 is listed as a test group, perhaps they go on that before they make the complete switch so they can see if they like it.

2613 is the 700 equivalent of 41808. It is right above the FW talkgroups, but it is unrelated to them.

Contact of mine just texted me back and said REMU was expected to be in the area of North Caldwell and Cedar Grove today to collect coverage data in those municipalities.

Does anyone know what happened to the South Jersey migration sticky?

And I logged a couple Caldwell radios already... I don't recall the talkgroup.

Guidelines from the senior mods reference un-sticking posts with no activity for over 90 days. That thread hit that milestone a little while ago.

I would be happy to re-title this thread to cover migration at a statewide-level if that would make things easier...

Since there is not a lot of SJ activity right now, I would say combine them. It could always be split back off later if things get very active.

Been running discovery on NJICS West Orange simulcast this past week. North Caldwell and Essex Fells will be switching over in the next week or so. I have identified 4 talk groups so far. I have not submitted them to the database yet, as I need more time to figure specific usage.

4655
4657 some encryption 50/50 so far
4659
4661

I also heard Cedar Grove using 2613 for a short test.

More info as I get it.

I should have stated in my post that these 4 talk groups are for NCaldwell and Essex Fells. They were using them on and off on Saturday. Switchover should be soon.

Signal checks on 4661 today. Just 5 counts. Not sure who will be who just yet. They were active though. Waiting for the cut-over.

Thanks for the update, any idea if the Hudson County 700 P25 system will be up soon?

Does the NJICS system as configured provide paging capability?

I ask because some of the municipalities now on the system (e.g., Verona Township) are still using T-Band frequencies for paging. They'll need to vacate all of those in about 5 years which leaves the question - where will they be moving their respective paging operations to?

According to what? I was under the impression that the NYC metro area had a waiver from the FCC due to all the frequencies in use in the area.

There is no FCC waiver with respect to the giveback. The only FCC waiver related to T-Band was a waiver related to the narrow band deadline. Licensees with T-Band frequencies did not have to narrow band because they were going to have to buy new equipment anyway due to the Giveback. Reportedly, Bergen County Public Safety is already planning a move from their UHF trunked system to 700 MHz due to the upcoming Giveback deadline.

The Verona Rescue Squad has a VHF frequency that is linked to our NJICS dispatch talkgroup, so we bought a bunch on Kenwood portables. Any member who does not have a state radio, gets a Kenwood. I don’t know what the plan is for the fire department. Maybe they will buy us Unication G5’s when they get 5(3 phase 2 update.
