South Orange PD TG 4663 ...sounds like they are now on , full time
South Orange PD/FD on 700Mhz System
Heard dispatches for fire department in the clear today on TG 4667. Also heard dispatches and talk in the clear for the police department on TG 4663. Apparently they switched over 2 days ago. Unknown what they are doing with the VHF frequencies. There was no simulcasting as the VHF channel for fire (151.4075 PL 100.0) was quiet when the FD was being dispatched.

I guess the fire dept. had a change of heart. A couple years ago people reported that the FD was testing the NJICS system and were not happy with it, and they did not want to give up their VHF frequency. Are you hearing them on Essex, Union or both?
Wow, SOPD and SOFD on NJICS? Time to update the radios.
Never had issues. Wonder what this means for Maplewood with all the talk of Maplewood and SO FD merging.

Their primary site should be the West Orange Simulcast based on their location. They probably having roaming rights on Union Simulcast as well.

i think west orange has some dead spots looking into south orange, along the ridge. its better served on the union co site
Maybe from Riker Hill but not from the Essex Courthouse (both part of the W Orange Simulcast). Then again, Watchung and Elizabeth have a good shot too. Regardless, their area will get good coverage from both simulcast sites and I’m glad to see they are taking advantage of both.

I have a question about NJICS specifically related to New Brunswick fire. This morning NBFD did a radio test and I heard all the testing of each radio come across the Union County simulcast. A few minutes after the radio test a call came in and I heard the initial dispatch come across Union County, but then nothing after that. I didn't hear any of the mobile units. I have noticed this a lot in general. Sometimes I hear them and other times I don't. So what determines if/when radio traffic "registers" on a particular site? Why would it register one minute and then a few minutes later it doesn't?

a friend told me about new Brunswick fire we will hear it in union county if a radio there on is registered
Union Township has fully completed their migration. Their EDACS is off-air. End of an era for one of the cleanest, highest quality, most well maintained radio systems in the state. Submitted directly to a database admin already.

According to the affiliations I see, 4683 likely Union Twp PD 3 and 4685 Union Twp PD 4.
Not sure which is which, but I think 4683 is Traffic and 4685 is Detectives.

REMU is on 4683 right now encrypted. 4695 and 4697 also active with Union ID 2019570, encrypted.

When New Brunswick switched over to NJICS I was hearing them on the Union County site, but as others have mentioned it is now sporadic. My question is are they using the Rutgers site as their primary??

I just received my Unication G4. Programed Verona into it. One word,,, WOW!.... I can finally listen to them again!
