Everything phase II? Will there be any simulcast? Dreading the thought of needing to buy two new Phase-II scanners. I resisted when Montclair cut over (I'm in West Caldwell), and Fairfield is still Phase-I, but I guess now I've gotta pull the trigger on a pair of 996xtP2 radios.

Everything is phase 2. I don't believe there will be any simulcasting but I'm not 100% sure. There was talk of keeping 472.4625 going just for redundancy, but who knows. I'm also in WC.

Not that you can hear it even with an external UHF yagi! I still get a great signal on low bands for the FD/VRS; I wish they'd keep that up but I'm not hopeful.

The Essex County municipalities should only be on the W Orange Simulcast full time from my sources. This includes Belleville, Montclair and Verona. Newark Fire is both W Orange and Union County. As far as Union County municipalities, I believe only Elizabeth is Union and W Orange full time. All the others are Union Simulcast only from what I recall but it's been a while.

I have an idea but need more time to compare radio id's to be certain. If I see any of my Officer friends I'll get them to key up and then I'll be sure.

I was listening to Verona last night and they sounded pretty good. Better than some nearby towns like Montclair and Belleville. I tend to get a lot of simulcast distortion on this system.

Only police and public works are using the new radios, so there's not a lot of activity yet

Ugh - some how at least one of my radios I did not put in Verona PD, but I did Fire and EMS, unless the PD TG's were not listed originally. Guess more project work for later.

The PD talkgroup is currently listed in the DB as:

4549 11c5 T Verona Verona (Unkn Testing)

I believe Mark has submitted the change request but it hasn't been updated yet. TG 4549 is currently full-time PD dispatch.

Verona Police Tactical is using talk group 4553. During testing, dispatch was in the clear, but the mobile units were encrypted.

Also we will be using the following UHF frequencies for paging:
Fire department- 470.3000
Rescue Squad- 471.7500

Fire and rescue will hopefully transition next week. Then I assume the EDACS system will be turned off for good.
I have submitted all this info for inclusion into the database.

Linden is also on the WO simulcast.

Newark, Elizabeth, and Linden are all on both sites for the purposes of interop since all three are part of various Strike Teams, refinery response, and often Mutual Aid on the Route 1 corridor. Additionally Union County OEM TG's can be patch to, and radios affiliate with West Orange due to UCOEM's heavy involvement in Spec Ops. Remember that Union County Communications dispatches/coordinates the USAR North Strike Team.
