very well put !.i've had 2 friend's ask me what i thought.i didn't hesitate to recomend the radio to them.while i agree about the per channel delay, there's a way around it.also,i was asked if going thru the menu for setting's is a pain but it really is not.this radio compare's in a lot of way's with a commercial radio.i am thinking of adding another one.i will say that i loved my 780's.in it's time it was a great radio.thing's change, and the bct15 is now the bully on da' block !.

Only thing I have to add to the 780 vs. BCT15 is that the 15 is much more universal in it's functions over the 780. The 780 was primarily aimed at Trunk Tracking at the time. I feel that they are very much alike in the receiver department.

So third party software can be written using the codes in that list.

Maybe someone like Scanner Master as an aftermarket, but I doubt Uniden will. Scanner Master has done it for the BC785/796D in the past.

Help with Mot Type I

Hello all. New to Truncked systems. Have a new BCT15 which is a great radio. I have several Mot Type II systems operationg just fine. I had entered only one Type I system yesterday, for New Bern, NC, and it worked great for about two hours. I have not heard a peep out of it in about 25 hours now. Any suggestions what to look for. I know this is vague - but everything else is working great.

It could be that you either missed entering or miskeyed one of the alternate control channel frequencies. If the active control channel changed and you don't have the current one programmed in, the scanner will be deaf to the system.

You can check to see if you are rxing the CC by pressing HOLD while the scanner is on the system. It will open squelch on the Control Channel. If you don't hear the CC's "motorboat", then you aren't receiving the freq.

Thanks - I did as you suggested and the motorboat sound is present.
So I guess there is just no activity? Very strange. Anyway, thanks
for the tip - good info to know.

While holding on the control channel, the scanner displays TGID's as they become active.

Manual Channel Access

This has probably been asked before, but I can't find the ans.

- Is it possible to access a channel, or at least a group, when the scanner is not in scan mode (when it is in hold mode)

Say I am on one channel in a group, and i want to go to another channel in another group do I have to scroll to it, or can i get there by some keypad function?

Manual Channel Access

Found this in another forum.

Press HOLD, press F and scroll to the system you want, press F to turn function mode off(or wait a few seconds for it to take itself out of function mode), then scroll to the channel (or talkgroup) you want.

Several questions

When using quick search or custom search, SCR REP appears in the display. I can find no reference to this in the manual or the forum. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, does anyone (Paul?) know for certain what affect changing the hold time to 0 on a trunked system has on the ability to handle (not miss a transmission on ) a large number of talkgroups in that system?

Last, how does everyone handle temporarily listening to only one system that you normally have locked out, or turned off with a quick key? I have found that if the quick key is disabled, you cannot use < F-latch, scroll to the system, F> and listen to just that system (radio says "nothing to scan" since the quick key is disabled). You can leave the quick key enabled but lock out the system and use the above method, but this unlocks the system when you resume normal scanning. Also when using this method I cannot find a way to then hold on a particular channel in that system. If you hold and scroll, it scrolls to the next system instead of the next channel. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Eric

BCT Slow Scanning

I have tried to figure out why my scanner scans so slow. I have three zones setup with a total of 45 channels and it takes at least two seconds to scan through the channels. Is there something else I need to look at. I changed the System Hold times to off. Any suggestions?

Thanks

While Scanning system of interest, press HOLD/RESUME, then use F-Knob to scroll to channel of interest.
