If you're using UASD 15 you can change the start up message in the Configuration Editor. You can personalize the message any way you want.

Is there a question in there? PL's are not used on the BearTracker.

BCT15 Opinions

Now that this little scanner has been out for a short time,

1. What are your opinions?
2. How is the sensitivity?
3 I have read a few responses that some claim this will meet or exceed the the 780 peformance?
4.Any known issuses?
5. Any problems finding or tracking CC in trunk mode?
6. Any problems having next to a computer?
7. How well does it do in the Civ and Mil-Air bands?
8. Likes and Dislikes?
9. Does it overload using and outdoor antenna?
10. Any keypad tricks or Mods?
11. Preferred settings or Suggested?

Thanks to everyone who reply's

i can answer a few question's.this is based on a non-scientific "off the air" monitoring standpoint".
1.sensitivity:
vhf-low band - equal's 780.
vhf-air - on some civil air band fq's there seem's to be a very slight overload from a fm x-mitter right up the street from me.this was never an issue with the 780.also,i used to be able to hear <very faintly> the tower portion of conversation's on the 780.not the case on the bct15.
vhf-hi - about the same on the 2 scanner's.maybe a little better on the bct15.
uhf mil.air - can't comment.have not tried there.
uhf - this one is "iffy".the bct15 does ok,but the 780 may have had a very slight edge here.
800 mhz - bct15 outperform's the 780 in my opinion.data control channel i barely got on the 780 come's in l/c on bct15.
2.does not seem to have a problem next to a computer.
3.no problem using cc only method of type II trunking.had the system set up and running in a matter of min's.
4.yes there's a few time's it overload's mostly on vhf-hi on ch's without pl/dpl.what i do is a made a seperate bank without a delay.i call it my "no delay/csq.bank" when it hit's a channel that has been known to overload it at least start's to scan immediatly when the carrier drop's.not a perfect solution but it does ok.
5.likes and displikes - i love this radio.it's one of the best i ever had.the feature set can't be beat.i'm crazy about the fire tone out, temporary lockout, instant pl/dpl code.search range's,volume is head's above the 780.it's on a par with my pro-2055 for volume.i'm sure i've forgotton something.the price of this radio is also amazing considering the 780 was around $350-$375.00.if i can help out with any further question's or comment's please pm me.i'll be happy to help anyone out.

it could of used a delay per channel instead of global. no overloads with the pl is used.
