Depmodeche, are you right next to a cell site? For anyone attempting to listen outside of the immediate intended coverage zone, cell sites can cause overload on the 700/800 band leading to complete loss of signal in very localized areas. This is more of a problem on scanners than subscriber radios.

Thanks for your reply. No, I drive through Bucks County all day long from one end to the other and I haven't picked up a single transmission since last weekend.

Thanks for your help!

If your database was updated you should not have to change anything, however there has been discussion earlier in this thread about changing P25 threshold settings.

I am getting DAT and I have varied the threshold settings but I'm not quite sure what to set it at.

Thanx
Did you look for the new system the name is Bucks County Public Radio Network. If you are still listening to Bucks you will not hear anything. Check your radio for the new system. I'm in Warrington and driving around this morning I had no problems with my HP2.

I thought the same thing but...... I did have to delete the old system from my favorites and enter the new system. If he's scanning the old system that could be his problem. He needs to check which system he is trying to listen to. The info is in the radio if he did his update but the radio will not change to the new system by itself.

This is the current database, if you notice there are two Bucks County listed, 1. Bucks, Conventional which is the old system. 2. Bucks County Public Safety Radio Network, P25 X2-TDMA the new system. He needs to make sure he switched to the new system in the scanner.

I think you guys are exactly right! I'm going to go home and delete the old stuff and reload the new stuff. I thank you very much . that's got to be the problem. Must I also download the simulcast frequencies?

Thanks again!

No just click on the new system and add that to your favorites, then select that favorite and begin listening again. Everything including the simulcast frequencies are contained in that folder, I think I'll have to look deeper in the data base and let you know.

OK do like I said just down load that system here's what it contains

Thing is, if he is getting a DAT and not scanning any other Project 25 systems at the time then he must be receiving the control channel for Bucks P25 new system. Am I understanding right?

Up and running...
Did a drive around today in my area of New Hope as soon as you cross the river and head towards Flemington, NJ the Trunk systems dies the analog Dispatch channel was good all the way into the west side of Flemington. Everything else 5 bars to Doylestown and around Warrington. Question, any more repeaters in NJ not turned on yet?

I downloaded the new bucks and put everything in a new favorites list. I've been driving around bucks all afternoon going up some transmissions, but clearly not all because they're pretty sporadic.

I'll go home and dig and little bit more on the website thank you all for your help.

Weird. You have the same problem with Philly too. Hope you don't have a spazzy unit. When you programmed in the new system, did you put in all the frequencies or just the control channel?

What do you think your missing? If you downloaded the system and you verified all frequencies are listed you should have everything. I like doing my lists on the computer so it's in front of me and I can look to see I have everything then write to scanner.

Check the menu "Select Service Types" and make sure everything police, fire and EMS are on. I forgot to turn them on and was frustrated by missed transmissions until I did.

Once again, this is a SIMULCAST system. When mobile, if your scanner receives signals from more than one tower you will have drop outs and missed transmissions. This will vary from location to location. Nothing you can do short of buying a commercial radio. It's the nature of the beast and it is very frustrating. Hopefully Uniden and Whistler will make design improvements and bring new scanners to the market soon.

As suggested service types that you should have checked off are
Emergency Ops
EMS Tac
Fire dispatch
Fire Tac
Law Dispatch
Law Tac
Law talk
Multi Tac
I use the Sentinel software to do my favorite lists and it put all needed frequencies and service types in when I entered the system. Then write to scanner.

BillVette and PoliceFreak.. I think you guys nailed it. I didn't realize that I had to download the new system, I thought that simply updating it took care of everything. I downloaded it and Bucks is working good except I still have periods of silence, but they don't last too long and it's probably because of what radio3353 said... the new system will have some dropouts and missed transmissions when monitoring it using a 436HP.

Policefreak, however, Philly is still acting weird but different than the brief periods of silence that I'm experiencing in Bucks. The other day in Northeast Philly I was in a customer's house for six hours. The scanner sat on the washing machine for the entire time I was working and for three hours straight it was silent and then suddenly worked great for the next three hours!

I'm gonna wipe the scanner clean and download everything again. I too use sentinel.

Thanks again for all your help.
