Well I guess there will be a 146 out there somewhere in zone 1 then hehe. Or my counting is off which is quite possible. LOL I wonder how difficult it is to reassign tower id's down the road when more sites come online? I could imagine it's not much more than a few keystrokes eh?
Oh its not that hard.. As for sites in phase I.. there will eventually be 146 with the addition of the emergency added tower at the MHP new HQ... Jackson will have the following sites... 145, 201, and 202 thru 205 I believe... Though if needed 201 can become 101 for the WHOLE system... We have four that we know are under construction asap... And at least four others that we have no clue on yet... Remember also... 196-199 area also 296-299, and 396-399 the SOW's....
It just dawned on me that the present count of 45 zone 1 sites included Jeanette (one of the original sites) So whatever number it gets is allready alloted DUH LOL. Obviously Fountainebleau was added as 144, and the 45th site will be the D8 HQ one so one could venture to guess it will end up being 146 then?
Oh and I would also venture to guess that just because the tower stucture is listed as being constructed mean it's transmitting or even outfitted with any gear yet. The ASR filings have nothing to do with emmisions. Just the fact that it's there and is a hazard to flight navigation.
Milf, what is RR's database protocol for site location names? Is it strict adherence to FCC license info or are there any other factors that figure into it?
Yeah you'd think that. Some of them blend in better than you'd think though. LOL Especially when they're miles away from the beaten path as is the case with several over this way. Went down to the end of modern civilization as we know it to find a few over this way LOL
If the official name is known we use that. Ifthe official name is not known then we go with observed location.... And then we also use alias from the actual transmitted data if the system sends site alias... Almost ALL new TRS's with multiple sites transmit alias in addition to site number...tower number etc.. Trunk88, Universal Trunker, and Pro96Com decode and show site alias... As do many of the digital scanners.
Also once ALL the sites in the phase are fully trunking. ans listing nieghbors.. Once we know that the changes are done... I will go back in and add ALL the site nieghbor listings....
I'm more of a visual guy myself, and would expect the site to be as specific as possible as opposed to broad descriptions such "Natchez north" or "Fayette" when the towers are clearly located in easier to determine locations for a stranger who might be travelling in an area. But most folks probably don't really care...I guess. But, keep up the good work.
Which is why we add the GPS coordinates... LOL.. When we can.. I think I have most of the sites locked in with that.. will do more on that this weekend.... With the same coordinates that the FAA and FCC use to keep aircraft etc notified of hazzards... you can be on site with little margin for error.... We usually do a 10 to 12 mile marker plot for each site....
Speaking of difficult to locate tower sites, Natchez North would definetly rate as the most difficult to find in southwest Miss. I was only able to find it after dark. Without the aid of signal stalker, I wouldn't have found it then, the roadway in that area is completely tree-lined, makes for very difficult scouting during the day, even when the tower is 400 or 500 feet.
LOL want hard to see? We have a few up here that are camoflauged to look like trees due to the eagle population etc..... Its all part of the "greening" of the Natural state... If there were other trees around this particular cell tower.. that might make sense.... But this thing is stand alone in an open lot... LOL Guess the birds like it.
