Ok, that's both interesting and wierd. Maybe the solar flare glitched the tower? hehe Mobile extender maybe? Keep an eye on it for sure.

Might try backing up, or deleting, that tower text file and running it again with a clean slate. Could be a Pro96com glitch of some sort.

Yeah, I agree with you... After looking at it a little closer, it was on the Jackson site as well, I looked at all the other sites around Jackson and it wasn't on any of those, so you got me... I'll keep watching it the next couple days..

Yeah, I can get them pretty well if I want too. I have a 800 yagi on a rotator so when I aim it that way I can pretty much always get them on the Benndale tower. The Lucedale tower is a little less reliable unless I aim directly at it.
Sometimes they have a unit affiliated on the Vancleave tower too which I always scan.

Here lately though I've been locked in on the Mobile County TRS with that antenna trying to figure out the City of Mobile's new talkgroups there.

I broadcast the George County Fire, EMS and VHF SO feeds. I've been considering getting a scanner that I can send out their 700Mh. We generally are having problems in our dispatch center with the recorder, radios, etc. In fact, the only recording of the radio traffic in chase that ended in Sheriff Welford's murder, was my feed archives off RR. So I know if I get a scanner for their MSWIN freq, it could be very beneficial. Is there a scanner that you recommend for the 700Mh scanning? Just looking to do the Lucedale and Benndale towers.

Well there's a couple things to consider off the top of my head. The Uniden base/mobile models make it easy to listen and send feed audio simultaneously with their built in line out jack. I'm not sure but I think you can only send alpha tags with Uniden's too.
Those models would be the 996T, 996XT, and HP-1 from oldest to newest. Out of those three I'd choose a 996 XT. It would be my overall top choice amongst all scanners for audio feed purposes.

Other than that any of the others should work just fine too. Just depends on exactly what's most important to you personally.

The RS PRO-106/197's have been going on sale for some pretty tempting prices and have a bit better recieve sensitivity. Which is generally a plus on 700/800, but in turn it can make them a bit problematic for the VHF stuff.

You can also send the alpha tags while streaming with the Pro-106 and the Pro-197.

Hinds Co.

Because there using there old whore out 800 Mhz smartzone system that hasn't been rebanded yet. I would venture to say it will be along time before you see Hinds Co on it for primary use purposes.

Bad information

I don't know where your getting your information but DPS/MHP has decided not to join the MSWIN system. The new commissioner has agreed with the State Troopers association not to move to the MSWIN system due to the huge amount of network dependence in it. There is no mandate for MHP to use the MSWIN system and there are current plans to upgrade the VHF low band system such as CHP is doing with the CHIPEERS plan. That upgrade will include rolling code encryption.

You really don't need to discuss this in a public form as its a matter of officer safety.

Um, the only time it would be for officer safety is if it was a MBI agent. I find it odd they try to align their name with other states but its the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol. The only people I would call Troopers are those that work for MBI or MBN. Additionally if it was a matter of officer safety they would have upgraded their system long ago.

Take for example , NY State Troopers are Peace officers and respond to residential calls as well as calls on every surface street in their district as well as the state. The regular Highway Patrol is limited to the state and federal highways.

Oh, where can I read this official announcement as its the first I have heard of it. I will go back to listening to Troop J now.

Just noticed another ownership change for all the Phase 1 leased towers. SpectraSite Communications, Inc. through American Tower, Inc. is now the listed owner of all P1 sites not owned by the MWCC. Updated the MSWIN wiki article with the new info. I had also added a couple of new maps a few days ago that you guys might like to see too. ;)

MSWIN

oh and MHP is already outfitted with MSWIN gear so please feel free to keep your "hog"wash confined to your stupid little blog.
