Wildlife and Fisheries has gone completely TDMA on southwest towers. My PSR-800 is decoding the TDMA transmissions just fine, albeit the audio is a little hot. MHP and MDOT are continuing to xmit as they always have. Really sucks for me to now have only one radio capable of fully decoding MSWIN. Guess I'll learn to live with it.

Hugh,

I've been picking them up on my 106 just fine. I haven't really tried with mt 800 yet. I may just be hearing them check in with Jackson when they go on and off duty. That's usually when I'm going to work myself or coming home.

As long as there are still FDMA only sites around, and there is at least one radio affilliated to a FDMA only site, you will still hear them fine on a FDMA only scanner. Being in Hattiesburg you're getting that benefit from Fountainbleau at the very least for the time being. There may be others in the region too. During off peak hours though I bet you're missing some MFC and F&W traffic.

For the last 24 hours, or so, I've logged:
Vancleave: 37 TDMA channel grants (pretty much all F&W from a quick look) compard to 2489 FDMA grants(CWID's included)
Benndale: 78 TDMA grants(roughly half of which were Wiggins PD or F&W Tac, with the remaining F&W South B) compared to 2228 FDMA grants.(CWID's included)
Fountainbleau: 1999 FDMA only grants.(CWID's included)

Yep, the sites that are updated for TDMA, and have added freqs. that are not covered under the state license, now send two CWID's on two different channels. The same one as always for WPTZ808, and a new channel for the new license.

KE5TLF,
I travel from the coast to the capital every week to fly out of either Jackson Gulfport OR New Orleans. I mainly just listen to MHP but I also have the local counties in the areas programmed in as well. I really don't listen to MFC but I really only get to listen to and from wor or the airport. My wife doesn't like to listen at all. So I'm kinda limited.

Hehe, well under normal conditions you're really not missing much, if anything. Niether one (F&W or MFC) are "heavy" users by any stretch. Almost certainly a factor in them being TDMA "test dummies" too. They do have their "moments" on occasion though.

Heck even MHP Troop K is usually a huge bore/disappointment. Troop J is usually much more interesting and I'm glad I can get them on the Benndale tower. The other night they even had a Troop D unit in their district going after somebody. The Troop J dispatcher was tracking him and a J unit, and directing them both to the location they were going to.

Cato MIA?

Wednesday night I got some unusual ducting that allowed me to log the Florence and Mendenhall sites. Noticed that Cato(206) was completely gone from neighbor site list for both of them.

Wondering what that's all about. Can't imagine it was taken down on purpose. Maybe a glitch in the recent round of site updates? Something to check out if anyone happens by that way.

I will be going that way on my way back to Hattiesburg. What do I need to look for. I'm very new to this but I will do what I can.

Just check that the control channel is still active basically. Seeing as you travel 49 a lot I would guess you already have it in your scanner? If by some chance it is quiet then not much else you can do really. Unless you wanted to ride by and see if aliens abducted it or maybe the power company pulled the meter. LOL

Cato Site Details (Mississippi Wireless Integrated Network (MSWIN))

I'm pretty sure it's just some kind of oversight with all the site upgrades going on.

Well it looks like many of the Phase 3B towers are coming online. I noticed the Tremont (332) and Otto Forest (333) sites were online last night.

I was hoping I would be able to receive these more reliably than the Monroe County sites (I have to leave my PSR500 in one specific spot on my desk to get an acceptable signal from them), however the Itawamba County sites are much weaker at my location than the Monroe sites, despite being closer. From what I could hear, the control channels sounded a bit different also.

Despite the major problems receiving them I managed to get in a couple minutes of decoding with Pro96Com late last night, and I have attached the logs. By looking at the site neighbors, there seems to be a couple more sites active (331, 336), but I can't receive them at all.

Thank you!

Just got a TDMA hit on MDOT G&H Car-Car on the Lucedale site.
Site techs have been in range of the towers I monitor for the last couple of days too. Must be doing something to Fountainbleau as it is showing Lamar County(111) as a site neighbor today. LOL

Thanks again as always! All of the above dissected and submitted now. :)

Oh and I've gotten feedback on Cato too. It's still there and it's on the air, just not showing as connected to any other sites. No idea what that's all about.

Been hearing something weird coming from several of the new Phase 3 sites for the past day. The Tremont, Otto Forrest and Mantachie sites all seem to be continuously transmitting some type of data on one of their voice channels (770.70625, 769.71875 and 774.33125 respectively). It will not decode at all on my PSR-500 or 996XT, and monitoring the sites with Pro96Com shows no activity.

Here is a video of my scanners monitoring the data from the Tremont and Otto Forrest sites. The only thing It really sounds similar to is when a radio transmits a message, call alert or GPS data (whatever Pro96Com calls "PvtData"); but it is faster paced and the sound doesn't vary. I figure it may just be a stream of null data used to test coverage. Whatever it is it has been going on for at least the last 24 hours.
