What would be the best way for me to transfer information from a PRO-97 to the 106? I want to just transfer 1 or 2 banks to conv military air freqs to one scan list in the PRO-106 without changing any of the other information i already have stored in other scan lists.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Think I would do it this way.

With the two air banks currently in Pro-97 Plug cable into PC/IF port and suck the data to PSREdit using Import>Convert data>from Pro-97. After Import, open Conv Objects tab and delete any conv objects not required then edit the remainder by highlighting the first line, hold shift key, then double click last line. Should bring up Conventional Objects Editor to select scanlist for group and other editing features.

Open PSREdit target file then copy from new file to target file.

What I would do, would be to load the data from the Pro-97 using the Convert data from the Pro-97/2055 option in the Import the data into a new configuration. Save that file and open the one you want the data to be imported into.

Select the Import Menu and then the Import data from another file and choose the objects you want to import.

Hello.

Beautiful program!
Makes programing so much easier. Thank you.
Can an Object info or Description column be added to the Scan list or Conventional Objects tab columns. When Importing from RR there is a Description Column, however I don't see an option to display this info once imported into the program. Have I overlooked this?
Thanks for any help!

There's no room in the file for this information to be stored. PSREdit500 stores the information in the same format as the scanner. An upcoming version will have more information displayed during the Trunked system import though.

Thanks for the response.

In Win500 when importing, it will import the Web info that is in the Description column and put it in the "Notes" column in the program. Also, while importing has the option to replace the Alpha tag with the description. I assume then what you are telling me is that none of this can be done. You say more info will be displayed for truncked systems in the future. What about conventional objects? I would love to see the ability to do this so that even if the Description info cant be directly uploaded to the scanner you could at least see it in the program so you know what it is when building scan lists etc and would save time having to edit the alpha tag to something recognizable. This may not be that important to others though.

Love the program though!

Thanks,

Dave

In order to add this information, I would have to change the file format used to store the information. I've kept the file format the same to this point to keep compatibility with the demo app that came with the PSR-500 and PSR-600. That app allowed you to back up or restore a configuration to the radio, and the file format used by PSREdit500 is compatible with that application. While that app is not included with the Pro-106 or Pro-197, I would still like to keep that compatibility.

The Conventional import already allows you to change the Alpha tag as a part of the import process from the Radio Reference web service. After the frequencies are selected on the selection screen, a second screen appears that allows you to change the scanlists, alpha tag, and alert settings before the final import into the configuration.

The next release will include the same ability for talkgroup objects, and should be ready very soon.

Are you doing an actual import, or trying to cut & paste? It looks like you tried a cut & paste. The import function works great, I've used it myself.

Select the first city you want, and then the frequencies for that City.

Select the next city you want, and the frequencies for that city. PSREdit will remember the previously selected frequencies from the previous city.

Repeat for each city you want to import.

Mike

But you can't edit the alpha tags as you go, then - or am I (as often happens) missing something? You have to either import on a town by town basis, or import a bunch of towns and then go back and edit the alpha tags later (when the town name is often no longer displayed anywhere)?

On the Conventional import, the City (Sub-Category) column is on the far right. At the default size of the edit screen that column isn't visible. If you make the screen wider you can see it (assuming your screen has enough space for it). The information is there though.

On the Trunked import it's a bit closer to the first column, so it's easier to see. I'll look at reorganizing those columns on the conventional import.

Ahhh. Light dawns over Marblehead. ;) Question/suggestion: can you implement (or have you, and I didn't figure it out) a way to re-order the columns? You've got a similar feature in other parts of the program. (hint, hint :) )

That would be great. By the way, for anyone reading this later, simply stretching the window sideways brought the city data into view. I could then (1) go through the list of towns and add each one, (2) edit all the alpha tags, etc., before importing, and then (3) import a fully-edited group. It's a little slow but there's no way around that, I think. The only thing that would speed it up would be to be able to select all towns within the county, which ought to be possible? Dunno 'bout that. I think the RR database supports that but I'm not certain.

I should point out, so there's no confusion, that I am in fact a paid premium subscriber. :)

I'm going to review some of these areas of the program and see what I can do to make them better. PSREdit500 uses the new RR Web Service (and also supports the RR CD-ROM). This version of the web service makes the way data is made available from the database a little different, so I'm not sure how easy it would be to list all cities on the same screen.
