System Requirements
In order to run Win500, you'll need the following:

* A copy of the Win500 program
* A PSR-500 Scanner
* The blue GRE USB Scanner Programming cable that came with your PSR-500.
* A Windows (2000, XP, Vista) PC. Sorry - 95, 98, and Me are not supported.

But the light will not turn off with the client, either. Turns on, though.

I'm not able to reproduce that. With Win500 Server talking to my PSR-500, and the client app connected to the server, I can click the light button and it turns on/off with my clicks. If I turn it on then wait, after 5 seconds the light goes out. If I want to simulate a "press and hold" (to force the light on forever), I hold down a SHIFT key while clicking the light button. I have noticed that if I've used the SHIFT key previously, I have to use it again to turn the light off.[/quote]

I currently have the PSR-500 broadcasting 8 NOPD channels.

Use the following in Win500 Client:

Currently has 20 open ports... Want to test out load and bandwith for a couple of days before Mardi Gras.

How can I save to Favorites List in Client?

Go in the Favorite List text file that is in the same folder as the Client. Just go down a line and seperate all the fields by a comma.

Thank you! I didn't have that file. I only had the client.exe that I downloaded when I got the latest Win500. I just now did the separate download on the remote client and got the file there.

Logging search/sweep hits

Don: are you planning to modify the history logging to log frequencies "found" in search/sweep (when search is an object in a scan list or in immediate mode)? It would be nice to let the radio spend time searching or sweeping and come back and harvest the hits.

Ok guys all the technical wording lost me along time ago. I see there is a verison 1.41 while I am still using the one from last year. Is there a help file for someone like me on downloading versions to Win500 program. I also don't understand alot of the program as it is the first program I have ever used. I do love it at this point, but feel I must be missing easier programing steps. I realize DonS is a very busy man and unable to reply to all e-mails so I no longer try that. Have not poted here before as I don't always understand what you TECHS are talking about and the fact I don't want to appear stupid. any help at this point greatly appreciated.

If you sent to "StarSoft" he likely didn't get them - try changing StarSoft toStarrSoft as in don@StarrSoft.com.

It has to do with my registration key, not with the program itself. I love the program and have no problems with it at this time.

"Group" and "Private" Settings For Trunked Sys TYPE ?

Hello:

In setting up for a Trunked System, am a bit uncertain as to the "Group" setting
and the "Private" setting for the Type object for the Talkgroup, and how used.

I have a System with two Talkgroups (both as wildcards) for it, but i see that I have the same CC frequencies for each of the Groups. This is obviously wrong, I would think.

Are there, or should there be, different CC's for each ?

Could someone please explain for me the differences between Private and Group, and what frequencies should be in each, and how utilized ?

Set one of the Wildcards to Privite and leave the other as Group. Insure both are in the same Scanlist for the selected TSYS. The CC's are the same for all ID's in the TSYS you setup Use all red and blue freqs for the selected site.

Pasting From Excel Problem ?

Hello,

What am I doing wrong -

I have two columns in Excel.
Column A is formatted as text, and Column B has Frequencies.

I would like to transfer about 20 Rows of the above to the program.

So, in Excel, I select Columns A and B, and do a COPY of them.
Seems to grab them all just fine.

Here's the problem, though-

Whenever i try to PASTE them into the program, all I seem to be able to do no matter what I try is to get the Frequencies pasted in the Alpha Tag program column.

Could you please tell me the exact steps to follow to paste the Excel columns A and B into the program, please.

I start out with an "Insert New item at End," and then i assumed if I just do a Paste here, it would fill up the lines below as required. It fills up the lines, but puts the frequencies
(Excel Col B) into the Alpha Tags column. The text that it copied from Column A never shows anywhere.

What are the exact steps to follow, please ?

Highlight an copy only the text and frequencies from the columns. Do not highlight A and B columns or any description info of the data.

Sure is weird.

Is "Add a new item at end" as the first step correct ?

Then, what should I do, or highlight, prior to trying to Paste it ?
-the whole new line
-just the alpha tag box
-or,... ?

Are you formatting the frequencies so there are 6 digits to the right of the decimal point? This is a must, and tripped me up the first time.

Are you pasting in the CONV tab?

I just highlight the whole row and it pastes right in.

Actually, the "digit" requirement for a frequency column is 4, 5, or 6 digits after the decimal point.

Frank's second example ("Do") pastes just fine into Win500's "CONV" tab.

Middlesex and somerset counties, new jersey

I have a psr500 and would like to use win500 to download both of these county files, middlesex county and somerset county county files only.

I notice both look like mult systems nad am not sure how to set up my scanlists.
I would like middlesex in one and somerset in another. right now i only want the county freq. not the townships. Do I need to make changes in win500 when I download to program or will it upload to scanner as is with no problems. I am new to this scanner as I had a PRO97 befor and programed it manually with some grief.
Any help would be appreiced as I do not have the time to figure manual entries.
