I'm taking another stab at trying to fix my audio issues with the P25RX-II. To summarize, the audio is OK when routing through the host computer. However, when using the same speakers - wired or Bluetooth - via the discrete audio interface in the device, I get distortion / warbling. I suspect it's an AGC / gain issue, but the console command $ agc2 0.7 0.x is returned with an unknown_command message. I pulled this command from the P25RX tips and tricks link, but is there a comprehensive list of console commands that I can try to fix this issue? Release 2022-09-02 0639 s/w. Note that the x in the command line is a variable.

Here is an examples of good audio produced using the PC audio system and external speakers. A line tap was used from the external speakers headphone output and recorded (you will need to change the .txt extension to .mp3):

Here is an example of bad audio recorded live from the same external speakers using a Zoom H4n. The speakers were plugged into the device's audio jack:

In the console, type the commands:
$ vol 0.5
$ save
The default value is 0.5. I tested the line-out audio jack here with firmware version 2022-09-02_0639. It sounds fine with powered speakers.

Can you add coventinal (non trunked) frequencies to the Zones?
I may have answered that incorrectly in the previous post. When you say conventional, do you mean non-trunked P25 communication? If so, then yes TG Zones should work as long as the HDU frame is decoded (with the TG information). If you are referring to analog FM modulation with PL tone, then no.

I applied the "$ vol 0.5" command which returned "vol .50" so it did respond without an error. Rebooted the device (30 sec no power) then restarted the software - same distorted audio via the audio jack. Should I continue backing down the vol, or is there another command to try?

Did you also use the 'save' command? If not, then resetting the device would cause you to lose that vol setting.

OK, just tried the save command and rebooted - I bumped the audio down another 1/10 to 0.4, but while the volume is quieter, the distortion still exists as before. It's not demonstrative to post another recording as it is the same.

Try resetting to defaults with the 'factory' command. Does that make a difference?
$ factory

It's a shame too since the signal is exceptionally clean tonight.First - cch.PNG

No joy, still the same. BTW, I used the $ save command after letting the $ factory command do its thing, but that returned an "unknown_command" response. Rebooted of course.

I'm not sure what would be causing it. It could be a bad DAC. I have those parts here. email me if you want to send it in.

How are the speakers powered? USB? If so is the power source the same for the radio and the speakers. It doesn't sound like a ground loop but it may be worth trying isolating devices with different power sources. Just a thought.

Powered by a brick. I also have the same distortion when using a battery powered Bluetooth speaker when connected via the device's Bluetooth interface, but the audio is clean when using the same Bluetooth speaker and connected via the host computer's Bluetooth interface. I'll do some recording of that as well for reference.

As I mentioned via email, the fact you are having issues with Bluetooth as well as the 3.5mm rules out the DAC. Looking at your signals tab, your decode is obviously going to be fine. I asked via email, but maybe you didn't get it. Can you try the other firmware I mentioned and give that a try? Thanks.
