Two-tone detection will not work well with the method I ended up using for PL tone detection. I tried it with limited success previously. A good two-tone detector (like the one in the MicroP25RX) is significantly more complex with regards to memory / MCU resource requirements. I'll see what I can get done on this today.

Surprisingly, it didn't take long to get the two-tone code from the MicroP25RX ported over to the P25RX-II. It isn't really tested yet, but it appears to be working for analog FMNB. It should also work for P25 P1/P2 two-tone decodes. The decode shows up in the console window. Version 2023-01-14_0952. I'm waiting for more tones to be transmitted..

As of 2023-01-14_1045, I can verify that two-tone detect is working correctly for FMNB analog demod. I don't hear any issues with P25 P1 audio as a result of adding the new decoder. I assume P2 audio will be ok as well. You don't need to do anything to configure it. The two-tone decodes will appear in the console window. Let me know how it works for P1/P2.

Todd,
is it possible to see the tones in Display view and monitor (Mon) view?
Not yet. Console output only right now. That is a good idea. I will work on ability to add to the display view. I'm not sure what you are referring to with monitor view?

There are now 4 new "keywords" for display tone outs. The tone-out is an EVENT type and is recorded in the EVENT dbase when it is enabled. Version 01-14_1317. I think I'm done with tone outs now. I'll update if necessary, but it appears to be working well. I've been able to verify many tone-outs to be correct today on an analog FMNB system. If anyone tests tone-outs on a P25 P1 / P2 system, please post feedback. Thanks.

Interesting... I'm trying to figure out how this could be used. Maybe on one particular TG that my neighboring FD is on that I'm interested in hearing, but they're on with two other agencies in which I have no interest whatsoever.

Wonder if something like this could be implemented per TG:

IF FREQ_A = nnn.nn Hz .AND. FREQ_B = nnn.nn Hz .THEN. unmute .ELSE. remain muted

Something like that? And allow multiple tone combinations since the agency of interest has multiple stations?

Not a feature request, just curious.

Yes, something like that need to be added. Right now, it decodes and logs. The measurements are very accurate. You shouldn't see any bad decodes. The code was well tested on the MicroP25RX and should work just as well on the P25RX-II. I'm still thinking about how to configure the TG unmute function as you described. The MicroP25RX will also be configurable for GPIO control on user programmable tone pairs.

More sample output from the latest version:
2023-01-14 14:44:31,op=28, TONE_OUT_EVT:, 660.00, 13, 688.25, 14
2023-01-14 15:16:42,op=28, TONE_OUT_EVT:, 849.00, 19, 752.50, 16
2023-01-14 15:17:13,op=28, TONE_OUT_EVT:, 660.00, 13, 752.50, 16
2023-01-14 15:21:20,op=28, TONE_OUT_EVT:, 660.00, 13, 598.00, 11

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this makes the P25RX-II (with experimental firmware) the first scanner (aside from MicroP25RX) that can do two-tone decodes while scanning? Also, it might be the only scanner that can do two-tone decodes on FMNB, P25 P1/P2?

Todd,
I don't know the answer to that question, but the P25RX-II is a beast. It is the "swiss knife" of scanners today. Outstanding work on your part and thanks for giving P25RX-II some love today.
Sorry about the Seahawks, they did give the 49's hell in the first quarter. Thank you for the Number One Person in our hobby.

The SDS does decode analog only but I'm not sure about scanning.

Thanks Vince. I'm glad to make some progress on the P25RX-II today. I almost can't believe that PL tones and two-tone decodes were successfully added between Friday and Saturday. I'm really glad it worked out that way.

I think I read somewhere that it can only decode while in a special two-tone mode, but not while scanning. I'm not sure if that is accurate though. (I don't own one).
