It's been quite since at least mid-october. I have been unable to pick up anything in the 750MHz or 800MHz range that's P25. The OpenSky site is still on air at WEST03
Yea, it has been off the air/quiet since late September, if I can recall. It is very odd that it has been silent this entire time. No control channel data or nothing. I have it scanning all the time, so if it comes back on line, I will let all know.

I'll check next time I drive out that way. Could have just turned the RF power down.

I had a similar problem programming pa game commission and got a lot of comments but not much help to really amount to anything…actually seemed hostile to a point however go to you tube and search your scanner and you will be up and running in no time

If anyone has radio experience and wants to be responsible for a fleet of over 8,000 radios, PennDOT is hiring.

It looks like PSP SRND also has a job posted right now, too. It looks like you need IT project management experience for this one. But, if you've ever been interested in helping to manage the statewide radio network, here's your chance to get in the door.

I have enough headaches with a Single county system and being on the tech committee for ICORRS..... and I don't want to move to Harrisburg....

But you can telework part time! Three days one week, two the next. ;) For real, though, if you know somebody, this job will keep them elbows deep in radios. PennDOT utilizes basically every radio model authorized on the network, too.

Speaking of PennDOT, I just came across this license. would this be for operations in the tunnels where there may not be good coverage from STARNet?

Seeing that they are all 12.5khz UHF analog emissions I'd assume they are strictly for coverage inside the tunnels where it would be impractical to try and get STARNet coverage. They have similar setups inside the Lehigh tunnel as well.

I do not want to submit this to the DB Admin if these TGs are shared in some cases. TG40127 is listed in RR as Easton DCC, it was fairly active the other day and everyone was referring to it as Reading DCC

They've been doing testing on that TG recently, and have referred to it as both Easton DCC and Reading DCC.

There is no "Easton DCC" that I can find mentioned in any FirstEnergy stuff online (job postings, retirement announcements, newsletters, etc). The Reading DCC covers all of Met-Ed's territory. Based on the Met-Ed comms and comms from the other PA subsidiaries, I feel like field users will sometimes call the DCC on the talkgroup for the local service center and just use the center name + DCC to ID who they're calling or the talkgroup.

Kinda like how PEMA calls counties and doesn't really identify which talkgroup they are using.

Radio etiquette can be hard to drill into end users. Or, I could be wrong about the Met-Ed stuff. Hard to say without seeing a radio or supporting procedural docs.

Heck- I'd be happy if PEMA just identified which radio or means of communications they were using... could be Opensky, could be P25, could be the Hoot-n-Hollar wireline box (aka PAWAS) that was installed a bit after Katrina.....

I'm going through my recordings from 12-7-21 off of ALLE*, and on TG40018, someone mentioned they hit their emergency button. Then a couple recordings later, TG40180 had "Akron Control Center, we had an emergency All Call?" So maybe 40018 is Akron CC and 40180 is First Energy All-Call, and not WPP All-Call as it shows in the Wiki?

I'm getting lucky all of a sudden with First Energy stuff. I think I caught a Latrobe or Derry line crew channel today after the storm. TGID:40091

What is the current status of PennDot on the system in the Philly area? I know some months back the safety service patrols (Statefarm trucks with the arrow boards) were not using the system and I seem to recall there was talk that may be changing. I have the Philly 800 site set on my G5 with all the PennDot talkgroups but no activity heard even passing some wrecks on the Schuykill Expressway between I-95 and Rt 1. Should I be using a different site?

The District 6 service patrols are now operating on the system. They seem to spin a wheel to decide which talkgroups they're going to use. I have noted the various trucks talking to the TCC on the following:

11686D6 Traffic Control Center 1
11687D6 Traffic Control Center 2
11688D6 Traffic Control Center 3
11689D6 Traffic Control Center 4
11690D6 Traffic Control Center 5
11904D6 Tow

For a time, I thought it may have been a specific talkgroup dedicated to a specific highway in the area. But, nope. In the database you'll notice there are even more talkgroups assigned to the TCC. I have not caught any comms on those, yet.

The talkgroups above have been used by the safety patrols for 76, 95, 476, 422, 30, and 309.
