Howdy,
I was curious to see if anyone knew what talkgroups are usually broadcast on the 700 MHz AG sites? All i'm hearing on the scanner is the control channel, but no activity or voice grants. Does anyone know what talkgroups are usually broadcast on those sites?

So I've had no issues scanning the network with my scanner and SDR but I was curious if my APX would NAS StarNet because the network uses P25 Radio Authentication. Before I wasted my time programming and finding out it doesn't work, I wanted to check here.
My friend is scanning STARNet with his APX with no problem.

It’s just another site. Whatever agencies are around that tower would have probably have access to their TGs on it barring the site has been added to their radio.

Nope. The 700 Air-to-Ground sites are for just that purpose, air-to-ground operations. They're not using them as normal sites. I'd be surprised if any talkgroups carried on those AG sites are in the clear, since they would be primarily PSP operations, which of course are strapped AES secure.

It works. Use unitrunker to verify CC’s for your area and the order of the CC table. You have to have a key to scan it because it’s P2
You need a system key to program any trunked system into an APX, not just "P2".

That was my assumption, I occasionally hear a PSP transmission in the clear on my SDR but it's rare. I just wanted to verify.

Ah, I was tired when I replied. I completely missed the 700 part.

actually, you can do a phase 1 system without a key because you can leave the system ID 1 and it will still work.

It's been ages since I've programmed an FDMA system...everything around here is TDMA...guess I forgot about that.

Since Rockygrove went to 800 I've seen the Game Co come up on both it and the vhf Seneca site at the same time. TG 12000

V/U/800 sites are normal traffic and 700 is air from what I gather.

Yes, the 700 sites that have been converted to 800 are visible to all multiband radios on the system and optimized for on the ground coverage vs when they were 700 and the antennas were more optimized for things flying around.

So what are they doing for aircraft? Just letting them roam to any site?

I suspect they probably are limiting the sites they connect to. They can program their radio to only look for certain sites and ignore the rest unless it cant find (preferred sites).

Waynesburg isn’t isolated on DSD now showing a CC of 854.5375 from Claysville site. I just don’t have enough signal for a full decode. The band is open tonight.

Why is this and WAYN11 a different RFSS than the rest of the PASTARNet?

Could this be the tower site for JEFF53, the new 1.146? Every other state owned tower in that area seems to have a different number associated with it. This happens to be a DCNR tower, but is in the area, so maybe this is it.

Has anyone heard any traffic on the PFBC lowband in the last year or so? Every vehicle I have seen no longer has lowband equipment in it. WCOs carry APX8000 portables for the state system and also utilize county systems (either in their 8000 or carrying a second radio) for info checks on people they're interacting with. I was going to go ahead and delete this category since they seem to be soley on STARNet or county networks now.
