Just noticed site 1.49 CC of 151.3850 active this afternoon. I am located in Berkeley County WV so maybe it is in south-central PA -

Based upon the CC listed in the neighbor list for 1-048, 1-048 could be either FULT01 or FULT40.

Of course, the only one of those that can be confirmed online right now is the one you monitored, 1-049.

The mystery sites are a mystery because they are largely in areas where other utilities are the provider so there would seemingly be no need for First Energy subsidiaries to have any radio coverage. That's what caught my eye anyway. Time will tell....

Just to add to the mystery even more and some consiparacy as well, the Seneca site is located on the old FEHLC microwave tower just outside Seneca. The tower used to have giant microwave reflectors on the top and now I believe carries the lowband data channel for them on 48.480. I wish i had that tower and site for ham as that thing is sitting on a hill @ about 1600 ft and its another 250 ft up!

Certain entities are able to gain access to those towers at no cost (except for the structural engineering and any prep work necessary to stay compliant with current engineering specs)

Otherwise, they can negotiate and pay monthly rent to use the tower.

Might be the reason some of these sites are shared?

It absolutely could be. Tower leasing was identified as a revenue source years back. But, First Energy was also identified early on in the planning phase for the new system as a potential partner for procuring adequate VHF spectrum in areas of the state where the public safety VHF was saturated (as was partnering with federal agencies, and trying to get Part 22 and Marine). Whether that panned out or not is only known by the folks in the SRND. The rest of us have to speculate and wonder until the sites come online. Obviously, they got their hands on some marine channels.

that is the air to ground system, when a trooper helicopter needs to talk to units on the ground or the troop dispatch for that area they bring up the talkgroup they need
