Mike Weaver, director of countywide communications, said that as work progressed — slowly — on OpenSky, project managers found problems with the way the system operated. Those concerns culminated in the county commissioners' March 2008 vote to terminate its contract with supplier M/A-Com.

For three police departments and one fire company, that means M/A-Com radios bought for the new system are obsolete already. Lancaster city's police bureau is trying to find another agency to buy its useless equipment

I think Lancaster County made the right move. It's been 13 years since the state of Pennsylvania
announced a statewide OpenSky system that still has not materialized......

I hope Harris cleans house......

What an ongoing fiasco for the taxpayers of PA and the emergency services.

True justice would be that MA/COM (not Harris) would have to scrap the OpenSky system and be required to
finance and construct for the people of Pennsylvania a brand new state-of-the-art statewide trunked system.

But they'd have to buy it from...
