Glad you got it working, but I never had to press any buttons to get it to work. Just plugging in the cable was enough to start it working, no button pressing was required.

Good for You. Had a Pro-93 about a year ago with the same error message with Win 93. It ended up being a problem with the scanner

Pressing ^ sends data from the scanner (the one you press up on) to another 92/2067. The send function will display as though it is sending but it will indicate sending even if the cable is not plugged into the USB port or another scanner.

Down button won't work for this operation so how do you get the data from the software to scanner?

PRO-92 serial communication

I have several different PRO-9x scanners including the PRO-92. All of the models I have use the same cables. While there are two main different versions of cables (COM or USB), I've also found different COM versions that all "work". There are several homebrew cables out there, the RS version and others. The reason I put work in quotes is because they all do not work exactly the same.

I have one COM version cable that, when plugged into the scanner, causes the message "press up..." to display. But when I open WIN92 and click on "upload to scanner" or "download from scanner", it transfers as expected and the message on the scanner changes during transfers. Pressing UP on the scanner, even when that it what it is requesting, does not work for me, as the software is not receiving. That prompt on the scanner is how you initiate a scanner to scanner transfer.

To answer a question posted; to initiate a transfer, press UP on the scanner which will SEND data. In other words, pressing DOWN (or other key) won't cause the scanner to receive; it is already ready to receive. The transfer must be started from the sending scanner.

Back to the original question; I have other cables which, when plugged in, do not cause the scanner to display the prompt message. All that is needed is to click the desired option in WIN92. So I believe your issue is tied to the SPECIFIC cable you have.

Another consideration is whether the plug on the end is MONO or STEREO. I've got an adapter that came with one of my cables. I've never had to use the adapter, but it could affect whether or not the prompt message is displayed. Just my $0.02.

Good luck.

thanks, Im learning alot just from the short time Ive been coming on this site, thier are some very knowledgable folks on here, for whatever reason, by pressing the ^ button everything lit up and started working, as for getting the frequencies and such enter the scanner, I simply loaded them into the win92 then pressed upload to scanner, the 047 lit up red and green along with the scanner screen and loaded everything I had entered, I wish scancat lite worked that easy

Oh so your cable has a red & green light? That's certainly not something I've seen before, but supports my comment about there being several different cables that work.

Don't we all. SCL is pure junk. Stay as far away from it as possible. I originally thought I'd just use SCL for all of my PRO-9x scanners, but the program simply does not work correctly. But witn WIN92, WIN93 & WIN95 free, the only one I had to pay for was WIN97.

You will need to cap the loose end with a 1/8 jack with both pins shorted (I soldered across) until ready to clone.

Another option is to also get the 6 ft cable with a jack on one end and plug on the other. The jack end is always shorted until a plug (above clone cable) is fitted in.

The RS USB cable has the red and green blinking lights. I know because there is one attached to my pc:)
