That is why I have an ICOM R-10. Nice for those off the wall frequencies. I also take it to concerts and listen to the wireless mikes.

Won tickets to see Lyle Lovett a couple of years ago. There was a guy in his "large" band whose bass was outstanding. I tuned him in.

Im really disapointed that GRE left out WFM no FM or TV recption.I know it's not a main feature in scanning but it is nice to have if a big game is on or something..

Maybe we need to setup a poll to find out if there's a significant amount of people that use the TV and FM radio bands on a scanner.

I personally don't use it and I'm glad GRE didn't waste the extra effort to put it on the new models.

I would listen to it... It's just another tool to have at your side, and one lesss radio/tv that you would have to bring.. When all hell breaks out, you can be sure that your local channel 4,5, & 7 will have alot to say.. And if that's not good enough reason to have FMW capability, then listening to a local red sox game (or whatever you fancy) along with FM radio staions should be. I can't believe folks would be against gaining a better radio. It would be the same thing as saying let's leave out the HAM bands because i don't like to listen to them, as they are not the Police or Fire.. IMO.. The FM Radio and TV broadcast frequency's would be a benifit to have.

But, with the mandated shut down of the analog channels (early 2009), are you proposing that new scanners should add ATSC tuners in them along with the band coverages?

Well, why stop at WFM/FM then? Why don't we ask GRE for the AM band too which is just as good for "informational purposes"? And so on, you can see where this might be headed....

Makes you wonder why the (wideband) Uniden BC330T trunktracker got discontinued prematurely? After some people have been asking for a wideband Uniden handheld for the same reasons you posted? ;)

Without going into deep technical and debatable details, I think it makes it a better receiving radio by not having as many bands and modes to cover, especially ones that don't get much use. I'd rather have them make the radio the best it can be at digital decoding and trunktracking. I have enough other radios and means to monitor TV and FM radio.

The way I see it, these particular models (PSR-500/600) are mainly for digital/trunking scanning NOT wide communications receivers.

But we can agree to disagree as the saying goes..... ;)

I have been. I assume you might be a beta tester or at least know things we don't ;)

Hmmm, you're from Indiana. Not sure thisis the proper sub-forum but it'd be neat to organize a coordinated programming effort for this new radio (file sharing). Maybe in the Indiana sub-forum?

No, just figured that's where it would be if they did post it :)

This unsolicited email came in at 3:33 Eastern today.

I just wanted to update on the status of your order. We have heard from GRE and the expected delivery time for the GRE PSR 500 has been pushed back to late October.
We will let you know if we hear anything different.
Thank you

Does that mean the scanners will leave China/or some other distribution point on the 18th? Or will dealers have them in stock on the 18th?

Maybe I over looked it while reading these comments. What I am wanting to know is, when is GRE going to start selling these new fangled radio's?

Thanks much....

Great News from GRE--PSR-500 Manual TODAY!

Spoke to GRE in CA about 2min ago. A nice guy there told me the GRE America site would be updated today and the PSR-500 manual would be available "after lunch".

It's getting closer, everybody!
