I'm thinking you'll see it at $449.99 initially, then eventually it will be on sale just as the Pro-106 and Pro-107 are. Let's see what happens in the days to come.
I would think it should be at least $399.99 or less considering the limitations it has compared to the 800. If not I certainly don't see them selling very many.

I hope that the pro-18 has the same display as the psr-800. the display looks really nice also could some post an image of the 18.

You can actually see it on the FCC type acceptance web link referenced at the beginning of this thread. It appears to be the same clear white display as the 800, which would also be the same as the PSR310/410 series that just came out.

Agreed, and I was somewhat presently surprised at the price of the 800, so perhaps RadioShack will see the light.

Then again, if the Pro-18 had been released first, you may have seen a few early adopters for that model and less sales for the 800 initially, until people had discovered the difference in features of the two models.

As it was, the 107 had been released far in advance of the PSR700, with not a lot of difference in features, but the price of the 107 remained static for a long time.

Any idea what the release date is looking like? I was about to purchase a new scanner and since my son works for the shack I might wait for this new model and take advantage of his employee discount.

The GRE version with more features, the PSR-800, should be shipping in small quantities to dealers in the next week or so. I would expect the Pro-18 in another month or two. Of course it's up to RadioShack to get it into the system and on the web site first, so I would have your son check the RSU computer for the part number. The radios are built in China, so it could take some time now that both radios have been announced and are through the FCC certification.

It doesn't show on the RadioShack public web site yet, so if you have a part number and a price(something like a P/N #20-xxx) and report it here, it may help others who want to order one. It may also show up as the iScan Digital Trunking Scanner with no model number.

Good luck.

...Meanwhile, I think the value-added PSR-800 will street for $449 to $479...

$449 did in fact turn out to be the going price.

... I still think the Pro-18 has a good chance of settling in at $399.

Based on the 800 at $449, I think $399 will be right on. (And msradell agrees!)

But if they don't be comin' out til April, lotta folks gonna grab them some PSR-800's. Mebbe me includin'. Heck, I can't afford another $399 scanner... I might as well hurry up and not afford a $449 scanner. Why wait to go $50 less in debt?

Don't know if this will influence anyone's purchase or not but the GRE rep at the Orlando Hamcation told me that the Radio Shack version of the PSR-800 would NOT have the built-in audio recording feature.

Having used the 800 now and its recording feature the lack of recording would definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Hopefully it's radio performance is better than the PSR-800, but by all rights it should be the same correct? In MY testing, the Pro-106 outperformed the PSR-800 on the Phoenix PD P25 Simulcast system (in terms of picking up the system at a greater distance) by a WIDE margin, which was totally unacceptable (thus it was returned to HRO). The audio was OUTSTANDING (miss it), but I need my sensitivity!

I would think the receiver is going to be the same but we will have to wait and see. For me the PSR-800 is the best scanner I have ever used on the Genesee County Simulcast system in Michigan.

PSR-800 on Simulcast

I've used the PSR-800 a lot on simulcast in Michigan. The MPSCS system in Detroit, Monroe County, Washtenaw county, Genesee county and Macomb county. It's performance is awesome. Even driving around those areas it hardly ever misses a beat.

By far better than any P25 scanner in the past.
